What were your humble beginnings?

Being raised by a single mother who was on her own with three boys by the time she was 22 with the oldest being me aged 7 at the time because her husband-my father, decided family life was too much for him. Never saw or heard from him again until I was 32 years old. Fortunately, she met a good man, married him (50 years next year), and life got a little easier in my teen years.

Define humble. Always had food on the table, and roof over my head.

I had Legos, but I had the basic 300 brick Lego Set. Enough bricks and windows and doors to build a house. Kind of humble compared to the kid across the street who had the Monster Lego Set, thousands of bricks. He could build an apartment complex, which was fitting since building apartment complexes is what his parents did to make a living.

When I was born we were living in a tiny apartment over a bar. I guess that's humble enough.

My birth parents dying just weeks after my birth where I spent the first 10 years of my life in the foster care system. I was adopted by Mennonite parents and lived with them until they passed. There is nothing I could consider more humbling, dangerous or damaging than the first 10 years of my life in foster care. Humble doesn't even come close to describing it. That would be an upgrade.
