What were your first impressions of your partner?

Hard to say what my first impression would have been, we've known each other since kindergarten. But from our first date: Friendly, funny, easy to talk to. He still is 27 years later.

Before I actually knew him and I just knew who he was, I absolutely could not stand him. He came off as such an annoying, loud, jerk. The first time I spent one on one time with him though, I realized he was nothing like what I thought and realized he was very sweet and sensitive.

Nice smile, gregarious, sweet, caring dad to his kids, overgrown boy scout with a survivor's edge. Sexy. It took him 6 months to give me a call.

Love at first sight. Drop-dead gorgeous. The most beautiful man I had ever seen.

Then I found out he was sweet and smart and I was doomed.

Wow, she really has RED hair!

Bad, actually. She seemed a little snooty and was hanging with friends and not mixing. (It was a social for camp counselors.) Learned later she was actually quite nice but shy in groups of people she doesn't know.

Noticed him right away on the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights NJ, thought he was cute!

He was SOO annoying. But by the end of the evening, he won me over. :lovestruc 23 years later, he's still annoying but I couldn't imagine not being annoyed by him. :confused3:laughing:

"Wow that is not a good look."

We'd been talking online after I found his profile on Match BUT he warned me he was conducting a 'How would I look with a beard' experiment. The answer was not great. Personality though, was fantastic. He also had zero social skills but it was sweet. Turns out he geeked out over things just like me and had a great sense of humor so he got me in the end. 😍

YUCK !!! As a 6yo in first grade my thoughts about any girl.

Not until 16 years later was there a 180° change to being :lovestruc.

I knew him from school, but we did not run in the same circles and hadn’t seen each other in almost 20 years.

My first thought when we reconnected and had our first date was wow, is he ever tall and attractive.

When he left after the dinner, I told myself I wouldn’t want to date him because he was so socially awkward. Yadda, yadda, yadda he won me over and here we are.

He was four sheets to the wind and trying to hit on me. I was unimpressed.

He smelled good!

Backstory - We worked at a summer camp and part of my job was driving canoe trips and sometimes he helped me. Some of the canoe guides that summer challenged each other to see how long they could go without showers (swimming in the lake and saunas the only thing allowed.) Spending hours in a van driving them to and from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area... it was a whole lot of stink. He was a breath of fresh air since he showered on a regular basis! Plus we were able to spend hours driving around and never ran out of things to talk about.

Just celebrated our 20th anniversary this past summer.

My first impression of the last guy I was seeing was that he was weird. He was overly friendly & talkative. It took awhile for me to warm up to him. And later once I got to know him and could tell he might have an interest my initial thought was NO! It was about another year & a half later before things went from friends to more than friends. It was certainly wasn't anything I ever thought would happen.

We played in a community band together and started making eyes at each other. I thought he was very, cute, and young. I didn't know if I should ask him out for a drink or ice cream. Turns out he was actually a lot older than I thought. Still has a baby face 14 years later.

I thought he was HOT, but it was such a brief interaction that I didn't get a chance to talk to him much.

Fast forward two weeks and we run into each other again. This time, got a chance to interact more and he seemed very sweet, but shy.

Third encounter, cross paths again and this time he missed his flight home, so he was stuck in town overnight. Asked if I'd like to have dinner with him so I could tell him about the area, as he was moving here. That evening I got to know that he was much more than a pretty face, he was a gentleman.
