What were Disneyland's 4th Of July festivities for 2025?

I'm curious to know what Disneyland did for 4th Of July 2025 today? Did they do a fireworks show and patriotic concert and did they have characters dress in patriotic attire like they did last year? Also did they have a 4th Of July ceremony at the park opening today too?

Not sure about park opening since we were at DCA, but at DL they ran their Celebrate America! fireworks show in the evening. In the afternoon they had a Flag Ceremony with the 1st Marine Corps Band. I didnt see any of the Fab 5 characters to see if they were wearing patriotic costumes.

No patriotic costumes on the characters. Several performances by Marine Corps band. Projections on Matterhorn.

That's odd that Disneyland didn't dress the characters in patriotic costumes for 4th Of July this year because to me I think Disneyland should've had a 4th Of July celebration this year and had the characters dress in patriotic costumes to honor 4th Of July but at least they did have July 4th fireworks at night. But I think Disneyland should do better for 4th Of July next year

I was there for the flag retreat on Friday. The Camp Pendleton Marine Band marched down Main Street and provided the music. It was wonderful and there were a ton of military members who went up for their branches of service. The Marine band played several places around the 2 parks on Friday and Saturday.

Characters were in their 70th outfits. That is what people are expecting for the 70th. Honestly do not recall ever seeing the characters at Disneyland dressed patriotically for any of the holidays.

As far as I am concerned - the marine band is the highlight of the 4th of July celebrations and the main reason I wanted to go. It is a lot closer to the idea of the holiday than the characters wearing patriotic outfits.

Anyone care to comment about how the crowds were on and around the 4th of July this year?

I was there on the 4th. I arrived around 3. The area for flag retreat was already super busy, but I found some of my flag retreat friends and was able to squeeze in by some of them. After the flag retreat and some chatting, I went down to the Plaza Inn and there was no line for dinner - it was after 5 at that point. I rode Buzz with 20 or so minute posted wait, but it was less than that. And then Rise with a 45 posted wait and I was completely off the ride in 45 minutes, so it was definitely less. And I found a spot for Paint the Night a little after 8 outside City Hall in the second row behind a family. So definitely felt very low to me.

This was my second straight year going July 3-6. Extremely light crowds both years, even more so this year. The reason is because 3 levels of MK are blocked for 2 days, plus ticket prices were $180, $196, and $206 - the 3 highest prices. This is consistently an excellent weekend to go and I will do so again in the future. Wait times were always short, LLMP return times were almost immediate for most rides, and standby waits were very short. On 7/3 at 6:00 pm Rise was POSTED at 30 and we waited 15 to the first preshow.

People continue to PERCEIVE July 4th as busy and avoid the parks (not people on these boards but less informed folks). That may have been true years ago, but not now. Let's keep the secret for all of us on this forum! :-)

I was there on the 3rd and it was so nice

I wonder why Disney wont just drop prices, like I get not wanting APs in the park on these weekends but pushing people who are going to pay for parking, food and merch away on the 4th? Just wish I could understand why not lower tickets 20 bucks and have a full park

Disney wants it this way and they explicitly stated it during the Chapek era and on past quarterly performance calls. I am not here to get in an argument with anyone, nor am I saying I agree with the thinking, but Disney states that the summer tourists visiting the parks spend more money than locals. Out of town visitors stay in hotels longer, buy more food, merch, LLMP, LLSP, etc. Even though there's less people in the parks, the people who are there spend more money and it's more lucrative to Disney. Also, the lower crowds provide a better experience for the people visiting, making them tell their friends how great it was and travel back again. This is for DL, not WDW, which is different demographics.

Again, I am not commenting on the merits of this, but this is directly what the design of the system is. Disneyland KNOWS the summer is less crowded and has been for years. They intentionally continue to price the summer at high levels and offer promotions like the 70th deal this year and the 3 day ticket deal last summer.

I personally hope they keep things this way. Summer is so pleasant to visit with long hours, max entertainment, and manageable crowds.

I also think all of us lose sight of something important related to crowd levels. Disneyland keeps ADDING attractions without removing old stuff. They've added MMRR, ROTR, MFSR. This is substantial additional capacity for people to do stuff, making waits on other rides less long. Not saying this is the sole reason for lower waits, but it is certainly at least a factor when comparing to pre-2019. DCA has longer waits consistently than DL, because a lot of people buy 1 park tickets and there's much less to do in that park than DL.

Along those lines, I found it interesting that they had a huge Halloween/Haunted Mansion merchandise release this weekend. 🤑

Agreed! Some interesting Halloween merch. I thought there was a similar amount of July 4th stuff and Halloween, so it wasn't overbearing. I'm interested to see how they balance 70th merch, Halloween/holiday merch, and regular merch. What will they be taking away to make room?

Just so everyone knows as well, I'm happy with the low crowds but as a Business...I just don't get it. Feels like lots of money is left on the table

The money is not left on the table...just delayed. The passholders come back and spend their money. Theme park profits have remained corporate Disney's bread and butter. With the reservations, tier days and blackouts for passholders, Disney controls everything. If they were losing money, they would change it and they have not.

How are they leaving money on the table? Passholders buy a pass knowing they are blocked out on certain days or all summer for the lowest ones. It's always been this way. If people want a higher pass, they can get one. If they don't want a pass, they can get a special ticket promotion. If the parks are jam packed, then out of town tourists report back how unpleasant it was and it reduces people's interest in visiting. I agree with Joseph821, it's just deferred spending from passholders. The number of people who have passes and still spend money on extra cost after hours events and regurgitated OBB offerings is the shocking part to me. Why not drop attendance at one of the after hours events and spring for the no-blockout highest tier pass.

I'm not talking about AP's

I'm saying if you lowered the ticket prices for day tickets you would draw in more people who are willing to spend money

Also people come during Spring break, Halloween and Christmas every year and crowds get pretty insane...guests can be upset but most will deal with it

We benefit from less crowds, but if I ran the park and was trying to make the most money, I'd want as many people as I can get to buy food, merch and LL passes thats where the the real money is its getting people in the door so they spend in the park. These new Keys they are selling are 60 bucks and they keep selling out, that is like a gold mine for them along with stuff like Sodas which cost them almost nothing and they sell for 5+ bucks

Anyway not trying to start a fight on here, just my two cents is its great for guests and confusing business wise to me because if they hated low crowds then man they must hate Christmas time when everyone is there buying treats, lol
