What weather source are you using to pack for next week?

I checked accuweather and weather.com and they have a 10 degree difference for almost every day next week! :rolleyes1

With so many DVCers traveling next week - i figured I'd see what sites you were using to pack :laundy:

We will be there for 6 nights...I know we will go back to the room to change at nap time and we plan to do laundry while we are there....I'm leaning towards 4 long sleeve shirts, 4 short sleeve shirts, 1 pair of shorts, 2 pairs of pants, and sweatshirts, long underwear, a rain jacket and a fall/lightweight winter jacket for everyone and bathing suits for the kids (cause they are crazy!)..

I like Weather Underground (www.wunderground.com). I've found their weather to be more accurate than most.

They're showing a bitter cold front coming through Orlando tomorrow, plunging temps into the 60's. And it's going to stay cold for a while -- 60's daytime, high 40's at night through next Monday, which is as far ahead as they show.

Winter is here!

I'd like to second the recommendation of Weather Underground. By far the most accurate weather site out there and the most user friendly, at least to my eye.

ETA - Weather Underground has this really useful Trip Planner that I forgot to mention. You plug in your dates and where you are going and it will show the weather for those dates of all the previous years that it has data for. This will give you a good idea of how likely it is to rain, and the likely temperature ranges. Very handy. I also use a website called DryDay.com. It gives you a percentage chance of rain for a give day. They claim to do their predictions a year out with an 88% accuracy. I've not checked their accuracy but they seem to be accurate every time I've used them for a big event.

For a December, January or February visit, you never know what the weather will be. It is best to pack for either fall like conditions, or winter conditions. That's just how Florida is this time of year.

Jacket or no jacket, have a great time. :cool1:

Darn. We leave on Friday and I've been watching the Weather Channel 10 day outlook. I like that one better! But I've been to WDW in December every December for the last 6 years and the weather can change quickly. We'll bring clothes for warm weather AND for cold, especially with layers to add or subtract as the day warms up or the evening gets cooler.

I use the weather channel on-line site. I would pack clothes that can be layered since the temps can change quite a bit from early morning to late afternoon, etc.

I find accuweather.com to be the most accurate for Orlando. I especially like their 15 day forecast. I do check up to the last minute because it may change.

We were just in northern Florida for Thanksgiving. All the weather sources varied. Fortunately we had a few really nice days.

I use weatherchannel.com, accuweather.com, and undergroundweather.com.
All vary but at least it is a guide when packing.

:lmao:

I'm glad you think that "temps plunging" into the 60's is cold:eek:. We hit 62 yesterday in Ky and by 6 pm it was back into the upper 30's and right now it's snowing outside. Up here in Ky it will be in the upper to mid 40's for highs and lows on the 20's. A 10 day outlook on The Weather Channel shows a 20-25 deg warmer weather. I'll take 60's any day during the winter.

Yes, it's 27 here, but we were hoping to swim in Florida. In December, January, we've had bad weather luck when we go to Florida. Some here in the past have reported great weather, and I wonder if we all go to the same WDW!

I will make a morning run from the villa to the hot tub by the quiet pool at VWL. If I'm in Florida, I have to swim or use the hot tub at least once!

Trust me. The folks working in the parks will be in PARKAS next week at night. Wanna bet? :rotfl2: (I'm actually not kidding!)

This born and bred New Englander finds the wet cold in Florida in the winter "bone chilling'. Even if the actual temperature isn't registering that cold. I don't know what it is but it literally feels like it goes right through to my bones.

I never go to WDW in Dec or Jan without my winter coat, mittens and fur lined Merrills. And I've worn them every trip at night except two years ago when I got lucky and it was a really warm trip.

We use all the mentioned sites. We always go for a week in Dec for our Christmas "Break" from reality:lmao:, Seems we always need a light jacket or hoodie for evenings and early mornings Tho....ENJOY we will be at BCV on the 12th heres hoping you get some sun, and us too....Shawnpirate:

We went for a short trip in early February 2008 and were pleasantly surprised to find that the forecast had missed and it was much warmer than predicted. One day the high reached 82 or so which was close to record warm temps. That was the only winter trip I have ever taken to WDW and really enjoyed it. I hope to make more of them in years to come. My daughter graduates High School this year so we are looking forward to trips other than summer time!! Sorry to stray so far :offtopic:!!

The various national weather services are fine to get a general sense of the weather will be, but I always check local TV stations and newspaper websites for more location specific detail whenever I am going somewhere for vacation, skiing, golf, etc.

www.newslink.org is a good site to find links to local TV stations and newspapers by state.

When I went last year, I was talking to one of the ladies in EPCOT that was wearing the "parkas" (was really more of a wool coat). She was from up north and said it was part of her costume for the day and she had to wear it.
