What was your worst experience in the theater?

my mother still talks about the time when she took me to the drive in to see "the muppet movie"-and right before the movie started they ran a VERY long coming attraction trailer for "beneath the planet of the ultra vixens":rotfl:

I was seeing harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban and there was a very large gal sitting next to me, probably 450-500lbs. No joke.

Well I heard her mention the stomach flu that she had a few days before, and I guess it wasnt completely done when she was at the theatre. About 1/3 of the way through the movie I heard this really loud wet fart. It made me chuckle, but then I soon realized this awful smell had taken over. She had gotten up to go to the bathroom and lo and behold there was diarrhea ALL over the chair! OMG! I about died. I ended up moving (along with my friends) to the first row of the theatre. IT WAS NASTY!:headache::eek:

Well they ended up stopping the movie and we got vouchers to see the movie again. Grossest trip to the movies.

I went to see Liar Liar because some friends wanted to see it. It's the only movie I've seen that I wanted a refund. My friends were enjoying it so I suffered.

I was in one of those old theatres that have no leg room so if you have someone who is recliner happy in front of you you're screwed, no matter how short your legs are- I'm 5'3. I had a lady doing that to me and hitting my knees so finally I had to put my legs up to stop her from going backward into me (I saw 2012, which was 2 hours+ of that nonsense!).

You win.

(Actually, tied with the PP who got puked on!)

I try not to go to the theater anymore because I attract all the bleep-holes within a 2 mile radius when I go. If I have to see a movie, I'll go at weird times: either the first showing or the last showing of the day on a Monday. I still haven't decided what's more tolerable, little kids (first showing) or drunk 17 year olds (last showing) at least the later usually sits far in the back.

OTish: I can't wait until I HP comes out!!! I think that might be the next one I must see in theaters, and I'll go to IMAX too. Or maybe Megamind, that looks good too. Either way, I'm theater-free until November.

The other thing that drives me crazy -- people who bring their babies/toddlers to horror or other adult movies (bad for the kids, and bad for the other people in the theater). There were people with little kids in the theater when I went to see "Saw"! I couldn't believe it. I love scary/gory movies, and even I was covering my eyes at some points during that one.

I don't know if you ever saw the movie The Relic? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Relic_%28film%29

Well, there was a family behind me where the oldest child could not have been more then 12 or so... and there were 3 other kids there too. I would have put the youngest at about 5.

There is a scene where they are attempting to pull a man through the ceiling before the monster can get him. Well, they are a bit slow and all they pull up is his upper half with "pieces" dragging behind. And they show all of this with the blood pouring out, ect.

Yea, not a movie you take a kid to people. Use some dang common sense. It caused ME a few nightmares... and I was 15 at the time.

1 crying baby during Boondock Saints 2 but chalked it up as bad luck.

My worst experience at the movies had nothing to do with people around me, but everything to do with me. I was on a date, seeing "The Piano" and I fainted.....out cold.

I knew what was coming when I saw the axe and froze. I put a piece of candy in my mouth, closed my eyes and started to sing a song in my head, as sometimes that helps distract me, but not this time. I felt the world go dark and heard the rest of the box of candy clatter on the floor. My head hit the back of the seat and my date was shaking my arm furiously asking if everything was alright. Needless to say it wasn't.

I finally came to, with my date staring intently into my face and I panicked....I was so embarrassed! I very shakily left the theater (alone...as I did NOT want this cute guy I was on a date with to fuss) to go get a soda and wash my face, etc. The kid behind the concession stand mentioned how pale and green I was and asked if I was okay. Imagine the surprise on her face when I explained that I had just fainted. She gave me a free soda and got the manager. It was fine at that point, and I eventually went back in to the movie, but the rest of the evening was sort of awkward. Needless to say that was our last date. LOL.

Oh, I've got another one!

I was on my first date EVER. I was 15 and it was a blind double date that one of my older friends set me up on. She was a senior and the boy she set me up with was older too (senior or maybe freshman in college). The boy was so cute... way out of my league.

The movie was Porky's.

'Nuff said. :lmao:

Well, I had a funny incident happen to me.

DH and I went to see the first Scream movie. Friday night, packed theater. I had open seat open right next to me.

Right before the movie started a young girl (18-19) sat down next to me. I thought it was weird she was by herself on a Friday night, but whatever.

The entire movie she clutched my arm and at times dug her head into my neck!!! She was terrified. I had not idea what to do so just sat there.

Well, the movie ends and she just gets up and leaves! No "sorry about grabbing you" or anything. I felt should could at least said goodbye, we kind of had a bonding experience in my opinion! :rotfl2:

You almost have to wonder if that was a dare by some friends or something--weird.

I haven't had really anything happen that comes close to anything like these stories-a few people talking but a harsh look by people usually stops that.

I can do one better than Saw. DH and I went to see Hostel and a family a few rows behind us brought their 3/4 year old son and even got him a booster seat so he wouldn't miss any of the movie:eek::rolleyes1
Not saying this was a bad experience for us at the theater because he was quiet during the movie. But I just don't understand the mindset of people who would do something like that.

My coworkers and I had gone to see The Game Plan, because we had made some of the costumes. So we are in a theater full of all ages. The trailers start playing and oddly they were all for R rated movies. Weird because this movie was G or PG.

Then the movie started, and it was an R rated war movie. The whole audience starts talking to each other. A woman in the middle of our row, such a hoot, stood up and said, "Oh no, I came to see The Rock in tights. I am going to get the manager."

We all started laughing and when she came back the movie had been turned off and she said that the manager was getting the right one.

It took an hour to get the right film. We did get free passes.

We have a winner :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I don't have too many experiences stand out...but we went to an economy theater last year in Marietta. Prices were awesome! Cleanliness, not so much. I get that it is no frills, but I never considered a mop or rag and a bucket to be no frills. We were the first movie of the day. And the floors were God awful sticky. I wouldn't go back there of someone paid me. I was pregnant, so maybe it was as dirty as I perceived...but I am
still not going back.

LIBERTY TREE MALL movie theatre Danvers MA

As I walked to my seat in the dark a large rat ran across my path. I was freaked and could not enjoy the movie. My husband just brused it off but I had to keep my feet up on the front row bars the whole time. I pulled a muscle in the back of my leg. I had told the ticket taker as soon as it happend and he could have cared less. I HATE to go to the movies since then b/c before that time, it had never even occured to me that mice or rats could be running around my feet.

Not one of my favorite places to go anyway. :scared1: We'll usually go to Hollywood Hits or into Salem. I hope that there are no rats at HH.

Just before the show started, a young kid sitting next to me told me the surprise ending of the movie before I could stop him. Darn.:sad1:

Went to see Titanic when it came out. Got almost all the way through the movie, to the part where the ship breaks in half. It starts to sink into the water and Leo and whatsherface are holding on for dear life and then..........

......... the film caught on fire. The whole audience was like nooooooooooooooo, the movie was almost over for goodness sakes. Most of the crowd moved to another theater where the movie had just started and we sat through it all over again. Luckily, I could look at Leo all day doing just about anything.

DH & I saw Titanic the day it came out. Bought tickets in advance for the showtime that coordinated with the sitter's schedule. The theater we went to was brand new; it was the opening day for this theater also. Movie went fine; but just like the PP, the ship sunk with TITANIC sliding into the water and . . . security lights came on, movie stopped, little blinky fire alarm lights started going off; the works. About half of the people in the theater left through the emergency exits. DH wanted to leave but I said no; there hasn't been an announcement from a PA system; no manager's come in here to tell us to evacuate and it's the first day this place is open and it's probably a glitch. Well, about 5 mins later, the lights went down, and the movie came back on and we watched the rest of it in a half-filled theater. :rolleyes1

My worst experience with another person in a theater was for Chicago. We were sitting next to two women - one about 50-ish; and another much older - I guessed mother/daughter. Well, when Catherine Zeta Jones started the movie with All That Jazz the mom started SINGING ALONG. Really loud. And didn't stop. So I turned and said "SSSSSSHHHHHHHHH!" The younger woman gave me the dirtiest look imaginable. And I said I didn't spend $20 on movie tickets to hear anyone singing along. She somehow got the mom to knock it off, but hummed and swayed for most of the movie. Maybe she had dementia or memory problems, but if that was the case, then they need to see the movie when there's only 10 people in the theater and aren't interfering with the people around them, not on the day the movie comes out and there isn't an empty seat in the theater.
