What was your worse cruise experience (hopefully NOT on DCL)...

Hey Sgt - what were we thinking of taking a cruise for our honeymoon - Yours 12 years ago , ours 8 years ago - Before the internet - We also had 2 twin beds that the room steward had to push together - Not the most comfortable when you are newly married! Took us 7 years to take the plunge again - We went on DCL - And I must say, we went not expecting much - By the end of the FIRST night, my DH (who I thought really would not like this) says "we are definitely doing this again"

Needless to say, we are going again real soon - You have to go SGT - You'll love it!

That is funny about the twin beds but my carnival one has that beat....we booked a lower catagory but not the bottom one....well when we get to our room the room steward knocks and asks us if we would switch rooms with a couple on their honeymoon...it seems we had twin beds and they had BUNK BEDS!! Well we did not want the bunk beds either so we didn't change and I recall hearing others tell them no way so I don't know if those honeymooners ever got anyone to switch with them. I couldn't feel sorry for them since the brochure listed those lowest catagory rooms as just having bunk beds...they got what they paid for!

Stepharooni,
Usually there is a 2 year staute of limitations so you are still within that. If you still have marks you need to talk to an attorney! I wouldn't stand for that sort of treatment, nobody should.:(

I know it wasn not funny at the time but sgtdisney I was ROTFLOL... try DCL...it is wonderful!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents!
We are huge Disney fans and will be on the Magic again this summer. Last summer my husband and I decided to try Carnival for several reasons. We wanted to go to Bermuda and the ship left from NYC...a short 2 hour drive for us. I had heard all the bad things about Carnival but decided to give them a try. And we are glad we did. The Pride was beautiful, the food was delicious, the shows, IMHO, were better than Disney and the staff every bit as good. The "frat party" reputation from years ago was not evident on our ship. And smoking is only allowed at certain places on the ship.
I'm sure you can find people who were not satisfied with their cruise no matter which line they are on. We love Disney and we love Carnival and would definately sail with them again!

I agree, what a horrible experience. Makes you wonder if you were the reason the spa closed. Nail 'em.

We also took an NCL cruise for our honeymoon, the cruise was fine but the lead up was hell. We were leaving from San Juan. We had a huge snow storm that closed our airport. We then spent THAT day filing to have a renter who trashed my old condo evicted, how convenient. We had booked a couple of extra days in San Juan, that part was lovely, so we did not miss our ship, but lost the money for that night. Some friends joined us, he had the flu, gave it to me. Ended up sitting on the beach while they snorkeled for three days. Got covered in sand flea bites. Huge itchy welts that lasted for weeks. The guys pushed their luck with golf the last day, drove to San Juan late in the evening in a mini rental, guys in the front, girls in the back with two huge sets of golf clubs stacked on our laps. No shower after the beach, welts, temp of 102, sand in my clothes, salt in my wounds. Arrive at small hotel where we have reservation. Sitting in parking lot 20 minutes, golf clubs getting heavier. Hear our husbands have huge screaming fight with hotel manager because he gave our reservation away, even though was paid for by friend, the lawyer whose secy liked hotel. Turns out it was a gay hotel, probably did not want to stay there anyway. All hotels in San Juan booked, drove around about an hour, double parking while guys go in. Golf clubs reaching the weight of a barge. Finally find an Embassy suites that took pity on us and charged an outrageous sum. Other couple takes bed, we get fold out couch. HUH??? DHs leave, we give them $25 each to gamble in casino. They return in 10 minutes, penniless. Am coughing lungs out by now, DH throws out back on couch.

So last funny story as we board. Cruise next day, all is well, I am finally beginning to feel a little better. We spend morning on the beach again, so with being sick, bitten up, living out of the-non-cruise-suitcase and wearing recycled shorts and t-shirt and without the energy to put on make-up, I look like h***. We go to lunch, meet our table mates. Later that evening, dinner-time. I'm now clean and dressed in a cocktail dress, hair done, makeup. The elderly gentleman at the table says it is nice to meet me. I tell him he met me at lunch, he says, no, there was another woman with my DH. I tell him, well "I clean up pretty good, don't I?".

I'm so glad you posted, it's nice to hear something good about Carnival.

I'm thinking of sailing with Carnival next June; 2 night cruise to nowhere. The price is great,(less than $500 for son and I) and it's less than a hour from my house to the pier. I'm thinking this will be a cheap way for us to get a taste of cruising before doing the 10 night Magic next Christmas.

We have sailed on carnival 2 times and DCL 1 time. Luckily had a great time on all three of the cruises.

This wasn't bad way back when I was younger, but now I think it would be awful!

I lived in South Florida and they had very cheap cruises out of West Palm Beach to Freeport. I would go often with friends, as often as every few months! I just think about how rough the seas were at times. I can remember sitting on a deck chair and the the waves splashing onto the decks. It was considered a "Cruise Ship" too! People were so sea sick. It happened often, but never stopped us from going! You know what priorities are like in your early 20's!!!!

Also, Dh and I went on a cruise ship called the Emerald Seas for part of our honeymoon in 1986. We walked into our room and had TWIN BEDS!!!!! We didn't complain, just made due!

It was in the news about a year later that the ship caught on fire!

We have cruised Carnival once (our honeymoon and yes we too had twin beds but they pushed them together.), RCL twice, and Disney once. All 4 were wonderful so I thankfully I don't have a terrible tale to relate.

All of you stories are so funny.

We have been on RCCL 2 times and loved it. We have not had a bad cruise experience but I think we are jinxed when it come to flying.

November 2002 we flew to Maimi for our first cruise. Flights down were fine and the cruise was wonderful. Stayed one night in Miami and were to fly back Tuesday afternoon. Flight left MIA late which made us miss our connection at Newark. Were were put on a flight the next morning and told our bags would be at the baggage claim for us. Waited around at the baggage claim for 30 minutes watching the same 2 bags go around and around. Went to the lost baggage place and filled out the forms. Were told that they should appear within an hour. Tried to book a hotel for the night with no luck. Finally at 9:15 PM I returned to the lost baggage place and was told by someone else that all the baggage handlers go home at 9 and we were pretty much SOL because our bags were stuck somewhere.

So we spent the night in the airport. They sure don't make those seats comfortable. We were stuck by the baggage claim because the rest of the airport closes for the night. It was us, a few other people and some nice friendly rats!

We finally got home the next morning, very smelly and very mad!

This year in September we again were delayed in MIA and late getting into ATL. We ran through the airport and just made our connecting flight. Reminded me of the old commercials with OJ Simpson. Jumping over luggege, etc.

No more flying for us. We are driving to the port this year!

I have been on 2 Carnival cruises and LOVED both of them.I have another Carnival cruise booked for April on the new Miracle and cant wait. The food and Service were excellent on both cruises and i feel the next one will be just as Wonderful as our last 2 cruises were.
