I have been invited to head to WDW for a friends birthday in Feb. However, the problem comes in that my DH thinks I'm crazy since I'd be leaving on a Thurs and coming home on Monday all the way from PA, not to mention that we already have a 10 day trip planned for April 29th-May 9th and we just got home from a 10 day trip Dec. 20th. Help me convince him I'm not the only one that travels that far for a long weekend.

Thanks

I have a friend who came down from PA for two nights, if that helps. You would be there to help your friend celebrate their birthday which just so happens to be in WDW.

are you flying? if so just think of it as a couple hrs awayand forget how many miles :rotfl2:

we drive and that long of drive for really a day and 1/2 would be too long for me.not that i couldn't ever be convinced to do it as any chance to go to wdw would probably be irresistable- just i probably would be sorry by the time we hit about Jacksonville and my husband was ready to sleep at the wheel, it was too dark for me to drive and we still had hrs to go..hey sounds like our last trip  ! seriously our shortest trip was 5 days there+ 2 for travel....and way to short

we are about 21 hrs away as long as we don't stop much

We're going to do our second weekend trip in May. Leave on Thursday, come home Friday. It's a 6 hour drive, and we're in DVC, so it's a free room (kind of). We have plans, and don't expect to see a whole lot, but it's just for fun and romance.

I have went down for four nights during my DW's frist trip and we drove for 9 hours to get there. It was still an amazing trip. I would do it again but I always hate to see the end of the journey.

I always go for 4 days and I'm from Portland, Oregon. For my February trip, I'm leaving on Thursday night and arriving on Friday morning around 9:45am. Then I leave on Tuesday morning at 7am.

I've done a short trip like you decribed and I'm from upstate NY. But then again I'm a disney freak. Thought about doing it for the EE DVC weekend at the end of January. :flower3: pixiedust:

We went last may for 3 nights. We thought we were crazy before we went but very happy we had when we got back. Any time at WDW is better than no time. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

My wife and I wnet to DL for the big Birthday celebration last year. We had to be there for the birthday! Spent just two nites, because I didn't have any vacation time left. Five hours on a plane each way... it was worth it!

So far it turned out to be 7 days when we had to cut our trip short in December, but we are going back March 1-5 (4 nights), driving from VA. About 12 hour drive. Well worth it to me to be able to experience some magic since the next time I will be there is in October. I would even go that far for as short as 2 nights, even tried to talk DFi into if for AP EE days, but it didn't work! :teeth:

Your DH will think that me and my DBF are psychotic, then! :rotfl2: We went last October, leaving the 13th in the early morning (a Thursday) and coming back the 15th in the evening (a Saturday.) Yes, a 3 day, 2 night trip, all the way from NYC! It is SO worth it. We were only there for 3 days, but it felt like so much longer and we actually felt like we accomplished more in our short little trip then we did in our previous, week long trip! (Of course, though, we're going back in November :thumbsup2 ) I say go, Thurs-Mon is plenty of time! My parents actually go from a Thurs-Mon every October, and they also go to Universal & Sea World, as well as other Orlando hot spots. It's really longer than you'd think. :) If you go, have fun! :wizard:

I do short trips in a heartbeat; with direct flight it's two hours from either CMH or SDF (we don't factor in the 4 hour drive to the airport, we're delusional that way :rotfl: ). We just got home from 4 day/3 night hotel hopping trip. My DH said it was his best trip yet to see the Mouse!!

We've done four nights over Labor Day weekend. We fly from Detroit.

When you think about it, people travel across country to go to Las Vegas for three or four nights - no big deal. We've done that LV trip many times - it's a four hour flight.

Do it!

Our shortest trip was 1 night this past December to go to MVMCP! My husband and I are from upstate NY and we got a great DING rate. We arrived at WDW at noon and spent the afternoon looking at resort decorations at GF, WL and the Contemporary. We entered the MK for the party at 4:00 pm, went on all the rides and did all the party stuff. Got to our room at Pop around 12:30 am, crashed, and were up at 6 am for our Magical Express trip back to the airport. Way too short, but absolutely worth every penny, even for less than 24 hours at Disney!

umm I am doing that but Thursday to Sunday to celebrate dgaston's birthday with her. :rolleyes1 DH & I have also done this for our alone trips. Call me crazy but I would go for a day if I could, lol!

I think I will win this game....We drove down to Miami from NJ for a wedding. We left NJ on Thurs. got to Miami Saturaday and left Sunday! It was my brothers wedding so it was a must do- but we had a brand new baby and I wasn't comfortable flying- so it wasn't Disney but it was FL. We also have flown down for weekends in FL several times before kids. We used to do NYE at Disney all the time pre-kids. Now not so spontaneous.

We do Thurs or Fri to Monday alot, from Minnesota. As a matter of fact, we're leaving this Thursday and coming back next Monday. See you there?

This will be my third time going to Disney in my life this February and I have never been longer than a long weekend. When I was a little girl we took the train down from D.C. and stayed one weekend. last year I took my three kids down from MD by plane and we stayed a weekend. For me that is long enugh two of my kids are very young and could not take it any longer and I could not take it any longer with them myself.

My Dh & I are both Kansas State grads. Numerous times we have gone "home" for the weekend to catch a football game.

From TX it was a 10-11 hour drive. From AL it is anywhere on 12-16 hours.

I say go for it! :thumbsup2

Oh, and once we drove home to northern AL from CT in one day.

Ok....you've convinced me I'm going. We have Rapid Rewards with Southwest airlines, so I'll be flying down, and I'll be staying with my friend at her house. She is a waitress at Tony's Town Square. This is just one of about 7 friends that I have who work for Disney (I met most of them on my College Program). I go a lot as it is, but we go for 3 trips a year and they are 10 day trips. This would be the first one that is this short. I won't have to lay out money other than food. I'm staying with her in her apartment, which is right behind the MK, you can watch wishes from her balcony, I have and AP, and I have RR on SW.

The other good thing that makes this kind of a no brainer is that I have 4 days of vacation that I carried over from last year and I have to use them before March 31st or I lose them...so what better to use them on than Disney world. And DH is willing to watch our girls along with the help of grandmas.

Thanks everyone.
