I was 16 and had a summer job working in a little factory that made metal fire places, I hated it, was on my feet all day and it was so hot, but made school seem not so bad

My first PAYING job was when I was 15, and it was at a fast food place in Ca called Foster Freeze... worked there til I was 17 and moved to Ga.

When I was 11, I worked at the library during the summer checking out books for people. Back when they had card catalogs :goodvibes

When I was 16 I worked at a pizza/italian place. I hated it. Hated touching other people's food, hated the way the place was run, hated having to clean the bottom of the tables, and hated the my coworkers. I did learn stuff about work ethic and such that I still use today. But that place was horrible.

I was 12! A newspaper Delivery boy for the NY Daily News!

Had to get up EVERY SINGLE DAY to deliver papers! And then try to collect the weekly fee of 90 cents from the customers!!!!!:headache::headache::headache:

It was then that I realized I HATE DEALING WITH PEOPLE.:lmao:

My first job with a paycheck was being a banquet waitress. It was ok.

There was a greenhouse right down the road from where I lived and where my parents still live that sold plants and was also a farm..when I was about 9they hired me to water stuff and gather eggs from the hen house (I got pecked alot:eek:) I worked hard and could hardly wait for my "pay check" They ended up paying me in eggs :rotfl: My Dad was pissed:rotfl:

I grew up in Iowa in the 70's so of course I walked beans.

The summer I was 16, I was a cheesecake baker. (The only jobs before that were babysitting - 50 cents an hour!)

Scooping ice cream at Baskin Robbins :goodvibes I loved it :thumbsup2

First paying job besides baby-sitting was a Courtesy Clerk aka Bagger/cart retriever/customer helper/etc at a grocery store. I graduated to cashier after a few months of bagging groceries.

Working at an Animal hospital and guess what 20 years later I'm still there :lmao::dog:

I worked at Six Flags Astroworld. It was so much fun. I met some great friends there. One of them today is still my best friend, 27 years later. We used to have some fun parties.

Sadly they tore it down a few years back.

I don't know what that means either. Maybe it means picking beans from the plant, like on a farm??

After my senior year, I worked at the Roller Express - the local skating rink. I was a cashier/concession worker. I wasn't a great skater, so I was never a floor guard, and I was too shy to be the DJ.
It was fun and was a good first job :). I learned how to make cotton candy. And I always liked counting money, so handling/counting the money, rolling coins, etc. was also fun for me.

One month after I turned 16 I got a job at Sears. I worked as a 'flyer', they would place me as needed in various departments. I learned a lot about everything during those years, including paint, hardware, make-up, junior and kids clothes, lingere, and men's shirts, lol. Men's shirts was a great place, most guys were 15 1/2 - 33 and they liked it when I picked out a matching tie. ;)

I was 13 when I started volunteering.
16 is when I got my first paying job, it was Burger King, and I worked there for exactly 3 hours. I just couldn't handle that. I came home sick from the onion ring smell.
Then I got another job as a cashier at a shoe store, I actually liked it pretty much.

Got it when I was 13, started working a few weeks later at 14... swim coach at the local community pool.

Selling ice cream in Fantasyland!:thumbsup2

Mind you, this was late 80s/90s early nineties. I remember them draining 20,000 leagues.
It was long before credit cards were used. It was cash and let me tell you, it was expensive even then and I had to go over each item in an order because no one believed it could really cost that much. I had people walk off and leave food all the time. Or they didn't have enough money. I had to wear a hairnet and it was hot, but we knew the girls next door that had to make the alphabet french fries had it worse, they were always greasy. I would also sell milkshakes across the way at a little stand.

I was 16, and my first job was a summer gig. I was a thistle picker on the pea line at a canning factory. I stood at a conveyer belt and picked thistles out of freshly picked peas. Eight hours a day, five days a week.

Talk about incentive to go on to college after high school.... :rotfl2:

Walking beans means you and a crew walk through the soybean fields about 6 rows apart and pull all the weeds in the rows. It is hot work and you get close your eyes at night and all you see is beans.
