What was your favorite now closed disney resturant?

Sure do. They had a nice fellow entertaining there (who's name unfortunately I cannot recall).

Madcoco: Sure do remember Seasons. Thought the room was kind of "large" but the food (we ate there on 'Northwest Night") was good.

How about Sum Chows? I think I am the only one who ever mentions that excellent restaurant at the Swan/Dolphin.

And before the Broadway at the Top review (which was before the California Grill) they had a supper club there. WE got to see Billy Eckstein the nite we went.

And there was a place called the Pompano Grill as well--think it was at the area where the Institute was later built. never had dinner there but did breakfast once. pretty good as I recall.

I miss the Matsunoma lounge in Epcot. Really good sushi, and never a wait!

Ditto!

I miss Spoodles when it did Tapas also.

Does anyone here remember Aunt Polly's on Tom Sawyers Island doing fried chicken? I swear we had really good fried chicken there on our first family trip in '93.

We also miss Boatwright's for breakfast. We only had breakfast there once before it closed. It was a hassle to get there on Disney transpo but those sweet potato pancakes were fabulous.

We loved Crockett's Tavern too! Our first 3 trips, we stayed at FW. Lots of happy memories there.

DH and I will miss this place forever.

We stayed at PO (before it was POFQ) when we were still dating, and my memories of breakfasts and dinners at Bonfamilles are indelible.

Hands-down the best breakfast in the World: Memere's French Toast, gorgeous fresh strawberries and cream, beignets, cafe au lait...and a wonderful CM named Wendell who recognized us a year alter when we returned for our honeymoon.

At dinner they had a wonderful pork chop, and excellent pecan pie.

It is a crime that Bonfamilles remains closed.

(Forgive the misspelling in title...my N key is sticking!)

It used to be an excellent restaurant with authentic Scandinavian food. Now it features Princesses and the food is (a) not as varied, and (b) dumbed down beyond belief! The target audience now is middle America kids and not people who enjoy good and authentic food.

So many! My top one would probably be the
3. Pure and Simple at Wonders of Life

Oh my goodness Pure and Simple had THE best Tuna Fish on property!!! I had it when I was younger and was so excited to have it again and found out it was closed! (This was all pre DIS of course!) I couldn't remember the same of it though... Realllly good food though

All I remember at Pure and Simple was their vegetarian vegetable soup. I was feeling really yechy in the tummy one day, and that soup made me feel soooo much better. So for years at WDW, I knew that if I felt sick, some of that soup would fix me up. Now I'm petrified to get sick at WDW-I don't know what "medicine" (soup) to replace it with.

I miss the Food and Fun Center at the Contemporary!! They had the best chef salad ever with plain iceburg lettuce (not all that purple, twiggy lettuce), the best soup and chili and the best chicken fingers!!
I used to drop DS off at the huge arcade and grab something to drink and snack on here. I understand that the arcade is smaller and upstairs now and I don't even know if the Contemporary has a QS place any more. :confused3

We miss Spoodles too!

They changed the menu about 3 years ago and now of course it is gone all together. This was an every visit restaurant for us. Oh Well...

Another vote for Restaurant Akershus before princesses, before ordering entrees - when they had the enormous selection of authentic traditional Norwegian dishes buffet style. Also miss the hearty meals and variety pre-Cinderella at King Stefan's Banquet Hall! So miss the Adventure land Verandah, fried rice and eggrolls; the Melvin the Moose Breakfast and make your own pizza at night with the guy who played guitar and sang at Trails End at Fort Wilderness.

And who remembers the interactive kiosks at Epcot where we could make a ressie that day at any of the restaurants? Miss the variety of drinks, foods, seems like everything has been simplified and dumbed down to the lowest common denominator! :sad2:

I think the only restaurant I've been to that is now closed is Spoodles. We stayed at the Boardwalk in December 2001 and had breakfast there almost every morning, it was delicious and the waffle was to die for.

Gulliver's Grill at the Swan/Dolphin (can't remember which) was a GREAT hidden gem. You could choose between a seafood buffet or a regular menu, and they had different characters depending on which day. The day we went they had Timon and Rafiki! So cool. Also great having only 2 characters b/c there was much more interaction.

I also miss the OLD Hollywood & Vine (we went in 2002). I've heard for years the food is terrible but back then we had a DELICIOUS meal here & the characters were the classic Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc gang. They did little skits and dances in the middle of the restaurant to this really fun music track. It was so much fun.

Fresh still has a buffet

I'll be more precise, then. I miss the lunch buffet at Fresh.

It was anything but the "usual" buffet food. And you never needed to even think about a reservation. (Supposedly that's not the case for breakfast.)

I would have to agree Concourse Steakhouse and Fireworks Factory. FF had the best hot wings I've ever eaten anywhere, and their cornbread was delicious! But Concourse was my all time favorite Disney restaurant. I used to stop by there for dinner two or three times a week - that's how much I enjoyed it. I got to know the people working there pretty well, and it was like my own little "Cheers". I really miss that place! :sad1: I haven't found another restaurant on property that comes close.

I got my most unique Disney souvenir from dining at Concourse. I was there so much that security put a parking ticket for a "Cast Member parking in Guest Parking" on my car. Supposedly if I continued to violate this parking policy, my supervisor would be notified. :rotfl2: I've never worked for Disney!

I don't know why but I have fond memories of Aunt Polly's. I still don't understand why they don't have it open during the busy season, if only to get a drink / snack. Seems like a waste of space.

I miss The Land's old food court, I liked the baked potate bar place. It has a good variety.

I miss Empress Lily when it was Disney village and it was the fanciest place to dine.

I miss The Odyssey at Epcot, another waster space (though I hear they do private functions).

Enjoyed Fireworks factory as we went there on our honeymoon, the BBQ chicken was good. I remember they also had some dessert like the Rainforest "Volcano" which was huge!

I miss The Land's old food court

I completely forgot about the Land's old food court-BBQ ribs, corn muffins. I got the recipe for their corn muffins and still made them for years.

Last time I was out at Aunt Polly's, the birds were soooo aggressive. They were trying to steal food as people ate, and I remember one little girl who was screaming and crying about the birds hovering around. I can't help but wonder if that had anything to do with Disney's decision to close it.
Does anyone remember the Soundstage resturaunt at, then, MGM? The food was just OK, but I still remember DD playing the piano with Goofy there.

I miss the Adventureland Veranda. The building is just SITTING there!!! What a waste.

The Adventureland Veranda is open for special occassions sometimes. My sister is a CM in 'the West' and she said it's open today (July 4th) because they are expecting large crowds. Today it's going to be serving some loose meat sandwiches she said.

Normally the restaurant is just used as a character meet and greet location.
