You went the same night I did, and I know what I DIDN'T see with my own two eyes. I know exactly what's supposed to be where, and frankly I trust my own account of the event more than yours since you don't even remember the houses well enough to tell the difference between them.

::::: sigh :::::: Okay we now know that Shelia didnt like any of the houses... I dont suppose you could start a new thread on how lame the houses are and leave this thread to the Original topic of FAVE houses....

::yes::

Wow, Laurabearz

What a shame your topic got hijacked by a VUP (very unhappy poster) who apparently hated everything about HHN. I guess I'm much less sophisticated when it comes to haunted houses because I have to say that I had a few of the scare-actors frighten the stuffing out of me!

For me, Hell Gate was the worst as far as frights because they were just really creepy. And no, it wasn't high tech, but I found it very effective. As far as favorite house though, I really liked Castle Vampyre. Great makeup and sets with nice variety throughout the house. And there was one vampire in the disco...mmmm....lets just say I wouldn't have put up a fight if he had tried to bite my neck, lol.

I would have to say I was very dissappointed in the whole HHN at Universal. I was there Wednesday night and it was so crowded. I was there earlier in the day for the rides and waited no longer than 30 minites to get on any ride and then at night , wham the lines were almost 2 hours long for the haunted houses. I only got to see 2 houses in the 5 hours I was there. I think Universal needs to put a limit on entry like Disney does.

Also when I went through "A" (on the map)"Horror in Wax","B" (on the map)"Ghost Town" and "D" (on the map) "Hellgate Prison" they ALL had chainsaws. Once again maybe they were not supposed to be there but when I went through them they were there.

Sorry, but I work in Ghost Town. There never have been, and never will be a chainsaw within 100 yards of that house. It wouldn't make any sense to have a chainsaw in a gold rush era town. There are also no chainsaws in Hellgate or Horror in Wax (They're right behind our break area, I'd think I might hear them).

As far as the "hired off of the street" people, everyone knows exactly where they are supposed to be, and when. We have these things called "Auditions" and "Rehersals" for that type of thing. If that fails we have Stage Managers, Assistant Stage Managers, Facilitators, and Productions Assistants to ensure that noone is where they ought not to be.

I dislike getting scared, so I have to say Bill and Ted's!! :teeth: I loved the show, especially the Michael Jackson character who is a HOOT!! If anyone sees the show, watch him during the show, eve when he's only in the background...if you get the chance. If it's the guy I saw, you'll be LYAO! :)

However, if I MUST pick a house...I'll choose Nightmares because it wasn't *too* bad...except when my friend Brooke accidentally told the Caretaker my name, and he creeped up to me, and asked if my name was Clare. That freaked me out! :p :p But I had fun in "GhostTown" as well.

The one I disliked? Horror in Wax!!! Non-stop scares...couldn't handle it too well...

lol

Someone is proven wrong and all they can do is roll their eyes. Don't you just hate it when the "little kid" actually knows what he's talking about? But then again, why wouldn't I? What, with my life revolving around HHN and all. :wave2:

I think I saw you on Sunday, Wolf. You're the white haired one across from the shaking casket, right? (that prop seems to have followed you....)

Back on topic. After my experience in it the other night, my 2nd time through it overall, Vampyr will definitely go down as a classic. I could say the same for Ghost Town if the actors showed a little more energy.

You need to vote for B&T! So far I'm the only vote shown.

Does anyone know of Monster Cafe is open during HHN's this year?

I would like to vote on the houses but I haven't been yet.:cat:

Yes Monsters Cafe is open, it's nice because alot of people just blow it off so it is a nice place to grab a bite to eat, enjoy the classic monsters and once you are done, you have a nice spot of VIEWING the parade.
:smooth:

My favorite was disorientorium. We did the stay and scream thing, and when we went into disorientorium it was just us ---definitely makes a difference. I'd have to agree with mum4Jenn that once the park get crowded too many people are herded through the houses all at once. The houses become not scary but frustrating.

The first four or so houses we went through were fun because the crowds were quite manageable. By 9:00PM touring the houses was like walking in a neverending queue.

All in all the evening was fun. My suggestion would be go early, do the stay and scream thing if possible, and DEFINITELY buy the express pass. ( I didn't last year and absolutely hated the experience---decided to give HHN another chance and am glad I did).

BTW ---was there Sunday 10/10/2004.

Thanks, it's good to know it will be open.
it's a favorite of ours at halloween, but a couple of years ago it was closed.

We went to a horror event at an old steel mill (Sloss Furnace in Birmingham) a few nights ago. it was pretty good. took about 45 minutes to walk through the thing. DH wore his "Are you afraid of the dark" shirt from HHN's a few years back. it was glowing like crazy and everybody loved it. :) cannot wait for this years HHN's! going the 24th, 28th & 31st:Pinkbounc Linda

Alrighty! I wasn't logged in before I replied, thus why I didn't get to vote. :) If anybody doesn't have the chance to see the Bill and Ted's Show...or wants to see a video of the show, I'll put it online so you can see it. They have one at universal-excitement.com, but....some of the performers are different, and just aren't the same..especially MJ. :( (If you want to see the Dance Number from the end of the show (no jokes or anything..just popular songs and dancing), plus see pictures, go to my album from Thursday, October 14: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2913995093 )

Castle Vampyr is an awesome house too...well detailed, but the last room (the disco part) is disgusting!! I like it up to there.

F-L-A: When I went to GhostTown, the actors were very energetic...so I guess there are good days and bad days. :) I nearly tried ordering a drink from the bar at the beginning -- LOL!!! Didn't have the guts though, because I knew I was opening myself up for a scare, so the group behind me did it. Ha! :p

Someone in my group ordered a drink and got squirted by the bottles. The bartender grinned in his direction 'till we were out of the room.

I would just like to back Sheila up on this one. It HAS gone down hill. I went to HHN last night, a Thursday, and it was PACKED. We only saw 3 houses and the Bill & Ted Show. Bill & Ted was great as usual.
The first house we went in was Disorientorium, or whatever, and honestly - the Girl Scouts had a better haunted house. It was just a lot of bad effects. I only saw a handful of scarers. And may I mention that one of them came up to me, and I swear was grinding his.. uh.. you know... against my arm. That was the creepiest thing in there. BTW 45 + minute wait for that.

Next was Ghost Town - said 30 minute wait - actual wait was 57 minutes. It was a great theme, but again, was not that scary. Very predictable. The scarers makeup was very bad, they looked more like bad clowns than dead frontier folk.

Last house, end of the night, was Demontroplis. Wait time was 30 minutes, which was very good. Out of the 3 houses I went in, this was probably the best. Maybe it was just me, or did it seem kinda short? It had good effects and better scarers than the others.

Wait times at the other houses were just too long.

I thought the corn field scare zone was pretty good, but it was the only one I saw. I KNOW we walked through other scare zones, but there was NO ONE there. Did everyone go on break at once? In previous years you couldn't walk 50 feet without seeing someone.

And I realize that it is an adult event, but what's with all the alcohol? I don't mind having a few bars around, but I don't see the need to have shot girls every 200 feet, people walking around with coolers on their backs, bars in the queue lines, and bars on every street corner. You're just encouraging people to get sloshed out of their mind and have everyone endure their drunken frat boy antics. This really ruined the "scary" atmosphere. I am not frightened by 20 year old girls dressed as sexy witches on stilts peddling shots.

At first, I thought it was a good idea to have both parks, but you spend so much time walking that it really eats up the 5 hours quickly. They should just keep it at one or the other. Or have seperate HHNs at each - and definitely limit the number of people who can enter. No one wants to wait in line for over an hour. Over 2 hours on weekends.

That's my 2 cents. In a nutshell, Demontropolis was the best house that I got to see, but I would have felt very ripped off if it weren't for Bill & Ted.
