I love to read about neat experiences on cruises. What was your favorite experience from a DCL ship? What did you see that was totally awesome or unique from onboard the ship? Include pictures if you have any!!

One of mine was watching sunrise at sea with my DS10 (neither of us are morning people so this was quite unique). We didn't even talk - just sat there all blurry-eyed and stared at the sea - it was nice.

One of my favorite memories (which I have described on here before) was when my then four year old and I went for a late lunch at Beach Blanket. I left the table to go to the dessert bar (about 15 feet away), and when I returned to the table one of the CM's was talking to my son.

He proceded to make a Peter Pan hat for my son, at which point he was joined by two other CM's. They played around with my DS for around 15 minutes. The funniest thing was when one of them made a "mouse" from a napkin. He would lay the napkin mouse on his arm, but would put his other hand behind it and make it "move". He also made the mouse "jump" at my son's cookie.

My son picked it up and showed the mouse is cookie, but of course it wouldn't move, lol. He kept saying, "My mouse is broken."

It was so neat that 3 CM's took so much time to entertain and play with my DS. (It helped going at a time when the restaurant was almost empty.

My Daughter winning Bingo, and the kids all dressed up for dinner. I just loved it all. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes ;) :) :cutie:

Celebrating my sister's life on the magic, I have posted this elsewhere, but it was just so amazing!! We had the chaplain who gave an amazing service, and then when we scattered her ashes, a dove appeared from nowhere and landed on the spot that her ashes had gone, and then it took off again. It was so beautiful!!! Out in the middle of the meditrainian, I just can not think of a more beautiful way to celebrate a life, and given that the last thing we did with my sister prior to her passing was a disney cruise, on the magic....well, it does not get more magical than that!!!

Sharolyn, what a beautiful story!!

Our most memorable moment on DCL was during our very first Magic cruise for DS and I. We were at Castaway Cay, at Cookies for lunch. We had *just* sat down with two big ole' cheeseburgers, when Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" started playing in the background. The sun was shining, the tropical breeze was blowing, my son was grinning, and I thought, "It just doesn't get any better than this -- we really are having cheeseburgers in paradise!" :)

There are many!!!! ... but I guess one of the first that stands out in my mind was our first DCL when we walked onboard the Magic for the first time and were greated and announced by the ships officers ... there were about 20 CMs and Officers lined up in the atrium along with maybe 20 or 30 passengers on different decks looking down into the atrium from above ... all clapped as we entered. The look of pure unadultrated awe on my DD's (9 at the time) face was absolutely priceless. Wish I had the camera ready, but we were all a bit starstruck.

I'd have to agree with you!! There is nothing like watching that first sunrise onboard from your verandah!!

My son, just shy of 1 year spent the evening in flounders while we had dinner with our DD. During the evening we had seen snow white walking around Deck 5. When we came to pick up DS, he was sleeping in a crib with a big red kiss mark on his forehead. The CM told me that snow white had come in to kiss all the babies good night.
That is my favorite moment so far. Looking forward to adding more moments like this on our next cruise!

THIS exact thing is what separates Disney from the rest. You know the baby didn't care/notice/even budge. You also know that it was probably a lipstick covered stamp, but the idea of it being for the PARENTS is what was the kicker. Nobody other than the crew and parents who see it on their kids will ever know, almost like an inside joke. That's what's so cool. I suppose it also follows the idea of the "goodnight kiss" lighting ceremony at WDW too.

My favorite part of the Farewell Party, since it was a three night cruise it was the same night as Disney Dreams, My youngest STILL thinks that Tinkerbell “flew” the ship at the end of the show so the family is on a real high Disney Magic Buzz. The “pixie dust” that gets dropped at the end of the party pretty much pushed us over the top. After the characters cleared out, the girls were on their hands and knees picking up “pixie dust” to save. Donald Duck comes over and taps them both on the head. He motions for them to hold out their hands and dumps a handful in both girls’ hands. It was a great little moment. That is what is so great about these cruises, there are so many little intimate magic moments that your treasure forever.

I'm getting chill bumps just reading all of these!! We're going on our very first cruise in October. Just being there will be WONDERful, but the extra touches from Disney will make it AMAZING!

I am fortunate to have recorded my favorite memory. On our first cruise (3-Nighter), the first morning I was out on the veranda as we were heading towards Nassau, and I was videotaping the ocean. I turned to film the kids still sleeping, when my DD (then 2), woke up looked out and started pointing a saying "Look, Ocean!". She proceeded to climb out of bed and out to the veranda pointing and repeating "Look, Ocean!" She was just amazed by the view, and I am happy to have had the camera going. :)

The night DD won one of Ducky Williams sketch of Donald. Donald is DH's favorite character. This was on our April '07 cruise.

Another memorable one is meeting a DISer on our very first cruise Jan '02. They were by chance our tablemates and we hit it off. We still keep in touch and have actually met up on vacation since. Mickey Magic if you read this :wave2:

What' sunrise?:lmao: Don't think I've intentionally seen one in years!

For us it's the "characters"...Chip stole my daughter (in a wheelchair) and drove her around the ship...the next night he brought her a rose...

Mickey hid behind the curtains and surprised her as we wheeled by...

Cinderella called her a princess...

Our waiter Eddie danced with her at the dinners...

Goofy hugged her every time he saw her...and made a point of seeing her often...

In St. Thomas we tooled around the ship (mostly empty) because there were no excursions available for her...the butterflies came in large numbers and we were both stunned.

All magic:wizard:

What a great idea for a thread! We are cruising for the first time in November and these stories just make me want the time to go faster! Keep them coming! :goodvibes

these stories make me all teary-eyed! Can't wait for our first cruise in April!!

Our very first cruise ever was at Christmastime on the Magic in 2002. I was so excited that I became all sappy on the bus going to the port :rotfl: But what I remember the most was when our name was forst called to announce our arrival to the ship. Having so many Castmembers and officers greeting all of us with such a welcome was something else. Having been out first cruise, I really did not expect that.

And from that the list just goes on.

My favorite moment was at the princess gathering. My 4yr old dd was dressed as Cinderella. Cinderella called her "princess" and then taught her to curtsey and twirl. It pretty much took my breath away. It was the way Cinderella looked at her and they way my dd looked at her. Sadly, I was so caught up in the moment I didn't get it on film. I got the before shot and after it happened. How many little girls can say Cinderella taught them to curtsey and twirl? It was a moment I will never forget. I rank it up there with the moment she was placed in my arms in Guatemala as a baby. Priceless.princess:

Linda Bell - what beautiful memories!!! You brought tears to my eyes. Gotta love those characters. :goodvibes

I love the stories - thanks for sharing!!

What about cool sightings on the ship - like sea life, storms, celebrities, etc???
