What was your favorite celebrity comeback of 2009? Was it Brittany Spears finally getting her act together? Robert Downey Jr. getting the upper hand on his drug issues and scoring with several hit movies. Neal Patrick Harris hitting the stratosphere in celebrity status. Is there anything he can't do? Ed O' Neil finally finding a sitcom (Modern Family) as funny as the old Married with Children. Mickey Rourke, not heard from since the mid eighties, suddenly becoming an Oscar contender. There are more I'm sure...

My favorite of the year was Whitney Houston. As a child, she was all my mother and sister listened to. I had no choice but to listen to the music. Her music became ingrained in my head and when I hear the old stuff, it always brings me back. I was so sad to see her having drug issues and being linked to that loser, Bobby Brown. Then this year, she finally pulls it all together and puts out a new album which is worthy of her talent. She looks healthier than she has in years and finally seems to have found happiness.

Congrats Whitney, for being my favorite celebrity comeback of the year!

I would say Robert Downey Jr. He has come from the depths of drug addiction, (even prison!) to his status one of (IMO) today's leading actors. DH and I were watching the previews for his current film, and commented that he really gets into the character- you see the character, not RD playing a role. Johnny Depp is the same way. Meryl Streep, also.

Seeing Robert Downey Jr. straighten himself out and finally realize his talent was a great thing to watch this year. My personal favorite of his is an older movie that most have probably never seen. It was Wonder Boys. In it he played Michael Douglas' editor. The talent has always been there. It was just a matter of whether he would be able to beat his personal demons.

I would say Robert Downey Jr also, when you think about how far down he was when he hit rock bottom, and where he is now...amazing!

I have always just loved Robert Downey Jr. (Less than Zero, Chaplin) so I was absolutely thrilled his great talent was restored. Love, love, love him!:lovestruc

One more candidate in the running would have to be David Hasselhoff. After the famous drunken video of him lying on the floor trying to consume a Wendy's Cheeseburger a few years back, he roared back into the spotlight as a judge on the hit t.v. show America's Got talent. The international recording star capped off his comeback with this breathtaking performance...

He's back!!!

I totally agree, and I am so Thrilled for him!:thumbsup2 Another is Leonardo DiCaprio what a talent he has become.;) Now, I hope Charlie Sheen can learn from him.:confused3

I don't know if Leonardo DiCaprio would qualify as a comeback. He has never been away. On top of that he has consistently been making excellent movies for many years now. He is definitely one of the best actors around these days, but he has not suffered the lows of Robert Downey Jr. or Charlie Sheen.

Definitely Whitney Houston. I always have loved her music, and really love her voice. I hope she continues onward and upward!!:goodvibes

Lance Armstrong. From retired to 3rd at the toughest cycling event on the planet and at an age when most cyclists would have trouble winning even if they didn't take any time off.

I would say Britney. She has such a successful tour, you don't hear bad things about her in the tabloids hardly at all any more, and she has released a couple of her best songs ever this year. Britney is BACK!

My vote is for Britney ~ first because she fell apart as a teenager when her parents should have been watching her back, not an adult like the others when they should have known better and secondly because she is now capable of raising her two young sons! Go Britney.

FWIW, I love Whitney but hellloooo....how many times are we going to watch her come back? And I don't buy alot of her "Oprah" story.

Britney I think she has done a 180% turnaround:cheer2::cheer2:

I don't think Whitney has done anything sort of turn around. When she was on the VMA she seemed stoned or high to me.

ITA with this post. I hope both Britney and Whitney have truly turned a corner, but I have doubts about whether Whitney can keep it together. Old habits die hard.
