What was your biggest struggle when you left school?

I graduated into the recession in 2009, so finding a job in my field.

Starting my career. I was only twenty and a female in a male dominated field, design and illustration. I got ushered out of lots of offices before even getting a chance to show my work, and got called 'young lady' too many times to count. I finally got a break from a place practically on my doorstep, probably because I lived so close and could turn up at a moment's notice more than my actual portfolio of art and designs impressed them.

Just being patient about getting a job I wanted. Graduated in mid-May, got my dream job at the start September. 2 1/2 months seemed like forever. I took at job in the mean time washing cars at Budget Rent A Car so I had some money coming in.

I ended up with a boss who was an alcoholic who never did his job so I ended up doing it. When I got married and went on my honeymoon he never turned in the quarterly report. It was all over my desk when I returned. This was early 80’s and it was all paperwork. Didn’t have computers. I got chewed out for it by the General Manager. I later found out that they were drinking buddies.
