What was the worst thing you ate?

Oh to the PP who said sushi was bad, I have to agree that I've had awful ones on Magic/Wonder. But this time around I had a yummy veggie ones (can't eat raw fish this time around) at Cabanas.
Seriously... I was pleasantly surprised. I was glad I took the time to try it. Even had it the second time the next day.
Have to say that I really liked Cabanas food WAY better than Topsiders or BB.
Or maybe it was the new boat smell? :lmao:
I thought their selections were excellent.

Thanks for all the great responses! In any case, it seems we'll find plenty of good things to eat!

Cranberry-Orange Cheesecake :( both my husband and I couldn't eat it. It tasted as if it had been deep fried along with french fries. Totally gross.

Our server brought us the Grand Marnier Souffle because he noticed we weren't eating our dessert. Now that was awesome!!!!

I had some mushroom/rice appetizer concoction that looked and tasted like Alpo dog food. The smell alone turned my stomach. It was brown and sat on the plate in a moist lump. It reappeared later in the cruise paired with a meat (not sure which) that my mom had ordered. We kindly asked it to be removed from the table. Maybe there was a service animal on bpard and they mixed up the meals.:rotfl2:

oooooo, ahi grade tuna ... LOVE IT ...
Yup, funny thing is I was twelve back then, and now I'm fifteen and I eat tuna sushi all the time!! Maybe it was the vinaigrette that turned me off..

The steak at Parrot Cay was gross, I think I just had a really bad cut but it was 80% fat. I should have sent it back but fortuently I was not very hungry.

Everything else we had was great - the food was much better than we thought it would be!

Someone mentioned the dressing served with the turkey, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the turkey served with the turkey! It was from a 'turkey roast' like you'd get in a hospitol cafeteria, not from a real bird. And the dressing was ground bread. The whole entree reminded me of what you might get at a Woolworth's lunch counter. I couldn't believe it! Even the 'cranberry sauce' tasted suspiciously like strawberry jam. I assumed that the international chefs had never tasted a real American turkey dinner.

That was the only bad meal on the 14 day EBTA, however.:thumbsup2

Those stupid wheat buns  they give you with the delicious hot dogs.

Dear DCL: If I'm going to eat something as unhealthy as a hot dog, please don't try to make it healthy with a wheat bun. :rolleyes1

I have to agree. I can't stand the wheat buns. :sad2:

OK, I'm in the minority, but I think the eggs are very good. In fact, I really looked forward to breakfast every morning and always got the eggs. Guess I'm not a picky eater, just glad to eat good food with someone else doing the cooking and the cleaning up. It always makes me wonder what 5 star dining people are so used eating every day that they are so critical of the food on the Disney cruises.:confused3

I'm not a picky eater (I'll try most things), but if it doesn't tase good I am not going to eat it. Guess I'm a food snob.

As for five-star dining? We eat good food at home, rarely packaged. If I can produce tasty food (on a budget and yes, at times I have fed up to 350 people on my own and the quality was just fine).

Three of our tablemates on the Dream maiden voyage ordered the Sesame Rock Shrimp with carmelized onion cheesecake as an appetizer. None of them could get past the first bite. (Personnally, I thought it sounded awful just reading it on the menu).

I "tried" to eat that same dish on the Wonder this past December. Absolutely horrible! I got two bites in. The only reason I had the second bite was because my brain just could not process the fact that it was so bad. :headache:

The worst is cake: doesn't matter what kind it is, it is just bad!!!

I agree that most of the cake isn't that good with the one exception of the rum cake. We found this on the longer cruises at the lunch buffet a few times. It was quite moist and I would have taken the entire thing back to the room had the fridge been large enough!!

It's been amusing reading through the list as many of the things listed as horrible, I enjoyed and some of the things that others enjoy, I don't.

I didn't care for the escargot only because it had too much garlic. I prefer garlic to be subtle, not overwhelming.

I also didn't like the rock shrimp cheesecake, but others at our table liked it.

As others have said, don't be afraid to try anything as you can always just not eat it if you don't like it. There's plenty of other food choices available.

I went out for dinner last night and was giggling as I ordered the tuna tartare. To whomever it was who ordered it and was surprised by the raw tuna, thank you for a nice smile. DH smiled too as we've had surprised children a few times when we ordered something for them like that (even though we described it to them in advance).

...
Chocolate Lava Cake

Ooooo, I actually love this dessert! One time I got it and there wasn't 'lava' in the middle...overcooked. My server noticed right away and brought me a new one...it was perfect! Yummy!
