what was the first trip/vacation you had using your own money?

The first trip I took other than mostly camping trips or nearby overnights with friends or specifically for just visiting family was when my parents were going to Florida to visit some extended family and then visit Disney World, Key West, and the Tampa Bay area. We got to talking and decided I'd join them. I met them there since we lived in different states, so I bought my own plane ticket. They paid for hotels (I shared their room) and rental car since they were getting those things anyway and in return I bought their 3 day WDW passes. We generally bought our own food, though I think they treated a few nicer meals at dinner time. That was my first "big" trip I paid money for - but it was with my parents!

A trip to Great Britain with a friend in my early 20s. We did get 5 free nights of the 9 by staying with some relatives who lived in Great Britain.
A year before my Sis and I went to Williamsburg but Mom & Dad contributed for the hotel room.

Disneyland when I was 17.

Did a weekend at the beach with my girlfriend when I was 20. Just 2 days in a motel, but it was a nice enough trip.

Foreign language trip in high school when I was 15. I had started babysitting at 11 and saved all my money and then got a job when I turned 14 (needed working papers) a year before the trip where I worked as many hours as I could after school and weekends to save for it.

We went to Mexico City and Acapulco. Still can’t believe my parents let me go because we were only in Mexico City for like two days and then spent the rest of the 10 days at a beach resort with swim up bars and no drinking age.. Life was great back in the early 80’s! Had the time of my life and caught the famous travel bug I have never been able to shake since then.

Went DH (then boyfriend) to Disneyland when I was 18.
Took the bus down, went to the park all day, spent the night in an airport and flew home.
