what was the first car you ever drove?

1968 Ford Fairlane. First car I ever drove on my own was a 1985 Renault Alliance stick shift.

My mom’s brand new 1977 Monte Carlo that my dad gave her on their 25th wedding anniversary.

Our school had 1973 Pontiac Lemans as their Driver Training cars. Back then car dealers lent new cars to the schools for 1 year, then took them back and sold them as demonstrators. We did have one 1973 VW Bug as the stick shift Driver Training car, but I never got to drive that.
Now, schools don't even do Driver Training or Driver Education (the classroom and simulator portion). You have to pay to go to a private driver education school that does both.
That Lemans was a much different car to drive than the car my mom had, a 1960 Buick Le Sabre.

We had Chevells in driver's training. I got a car after my license, it was a 71 Vega LOL After I got married, upgraded to a Camero

If you mean on the highway it was a 1963 Buick LaSabre (the tank), the family car.

If you mean at all, it would be a 1945 olive green military Jeep that my uncle had. I wasn't registered so it couldn't be driven on the road but it could be driven in the field behind his house. I was probably around 10 at the time. He lived on a back road and even let me drive his new 1958 Plymouth about a quarter mile. The guy either had a death wish or was hoping I wreaked the car because he didn't like the car at all.

Could've been a Dodge Grand Caravan or a Ford Ranger. Those were the family cars at the time, not sure which one I drove first. I think it was the Ranger.

My dad once let me "drive" his car - I don't really remember the kind of car it was. He had let my sister drive in a parking lot as she was getting close to needing to learn. I was a bit younger, but he let me sit in his lap and ddrive it around once, though I suspect I really had zero control. Later, I learned to drive on my mom's '88 Corolla, which was eventually handed down to me.

If you count driving from a lap, then 1960s and 70s-era Ford Country Squire/LTD station wagons, lol.

But for real:

My first car was a brand new baby blue 1974 Ford Pinto.
My wife's first car was a used 1970 Ford Maverick that she got in 1978.
We still had those cars when we got married in 1982. And those cars speak volumes even today about our mindset on spending money buying cars. Cheaper to fix a car than replace it.

1962 Chevrolet Biscayne. Inline 6-cylinder, with 'three on the tree.'

When I got m driver's liscence, my parents surprised me with a used, 1961 VW convertible. First car I bought, after college was a 1973 cranberry red Ford Pinto.

The car that I own now is the first I've ever driven. I was in my late 40's before I ever drove a car. After my parents passed and I left the community it was pretty much a necessity.

1957 Chevy 4 door with a stick shift on the column. It was like a big tank.

68 Pontiac Catalina. A massive boat. Me and 6 or 7 of my friends could fit in it comfortably.
