ok my first 45 was Centerfold (J Geils) filp side was Freezeframe.
First album....was I think Kiss Destroyer...lol..I as 7 and had a crush on the drummer....too funny.
The first things I bought were:
45:Kind of a Hush by Herman's Hermits
33:Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf
8 trak:Greatest Hits by Janis Joplin
Cassette:Smoky Mountain Christmas
CD:You know I truly do not remember
And I have a bunch of 78 Kiddie records that were mine!!!
I think the first record I bought with my own money was a 45 RPM single - Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey" I have NO idea what I was thinking but I LOVED that song...I was 11!!
A year or two year later I got a "phonograph" for Christmas and my first ALBUM ...Sounds of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel). I listened to it over and over and over and over. It fit my moods quite well at the time and remains an all-time favorite!
First 45 was King Harvest's Dancing in the Moonlight -- loved that song then and still love it today.
First album was Elton John's Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirty Cowboy. Still love that too, although I have since replaced it on CD.
The first CD I bought was Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus. My boyfriend (now husband) left my album of the above in the backseat of the car in the summertime, and I had never replaced it. Years later when I bought my first CD player I decided to replace it on CD.
faithinkarma - how about that with your husband and that song! I remember hearing that story about Ricky Nelson and the inspiration for that song, but I don't remember where or how.
Everytime I hear that song "Snoopy and the Red Baron" I just crack up! It really brings back memories of my childhood.
I can remember slow dancing in summer backyard parties to "Chrimson and Clover" and dancing to "Hang on Sloopy". Hahaha! 45's were great!
Ooooh, I can Micca! That would be Disney's "Hocus Pocus". It's only one of two DVD's I bought, the other is "ET"! LOL! I'm not the DVD buyer in the house! LOL! I hope he buys "Shrek" while it's still around. I asked him to a while ago but as far as I know he hasn't.
First CD: Nat King Cole's Christmas album, I bought my new stereo with my first CD player with my Christmas bonus from work. So I bought that CD first.
First 45 I bought was "Rhinestone Cowboy" by Glenn Campbell. I have no idea why or what I was thinking at the time, but I guess that gives away my age. LOL! My first album was by Andy Gibb called "Shadow Dancing". I still have both of them! Kathy
Okay, the first record I bought was a '45... "Rubber Ducky" from Sesame Street (1968?)
Anyone else remember the records on the box of cereal? I had "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies... it was actually the cardboard box..I think the cereal was Super sugar crisp. The record played on my "Close and Play" record player... you closed the lid and it played... guess the record needle was in the top of the player!
