I went to the mall today, I left home at about 2:30, there was traffic getting into the mall - no biggy. I went to the Willowbrook Mall and Wayne Town Center ( right accross from one another). I had to run into JC Penney for something, got it and then went into Fortunoff. I was done in 30 minutes. Then all he** broke loose.         I got in my car and all of a sudden, there were cars everywhere!  Comming out of this row, that row, the row over there and so on! Then the road that leads out of the mall and into the one accross the street ( the same road) was a parkinglot!!!! 30 minutes later I actually got OUT of the parking lot. I said to myself, no one is in the right lane, so I'll just make a right and drive around the outside of the mall to another exit....   - Well mr brains that I am..... It was an hour later, and I had moved MAYBE 500 feet, MAYBE. So I called Chris at work and he asks if I found an electric knife, HE NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT AN ELECTRIC KNIFE:eek:           - So I thought to myself, well maybe I should just pull back into the mall find the nearest spot and go into Willowbrook, which is a much larger mall than the first one I went into. So that's what I did - 20 minutes after I hung up the phone, I found a space. You had to see the amount of cars all you could see were lights. And hear horns. ( by the way - WHY, if there is absolutely nowhere to go, does some jerk have to inch up on you and blow the horn, and scream his head off when there is literally NOWHERE to go??? - To that guy in the black Navigater &^$%#%#@$#!@~#$@#%!$#@!$#@!@#!!!...

Anyway - so I went into the mall and went to Macy*s, no electric knife. To Sears, No electric knife. Went to Lord & Taylor ( not that I thought there would be an electric knife) but they were having a good sale!!! Then off to Bloomingdale's, they had ONE electric knife, the only one was on display - the man would NOT sell me the knife!!!   He said that they do not keep the original boxes for the items on display. I let hin know that that was a stupid idea! And he should get it off the shelf before someone got hurt!

And so - 1 1/2 hours past and Tony had a terrible headache, what with fighting with the bloomingdale's sales person! So I decided that I should get something to eat, since I would NOT make it home in time for a decent meal. So after I ate, I walked around a little more then went outside, only to see things got WORSE. Now, there were cars, everywhere, and I mean everywhere!!! there went the Christmas Spirit, right out the window! So I thought, well I have things that I need to do at home, so I got in my car and sat there. Just sat there. I called Chris and he told me that they shut down ( wouldn't let anymore cars in) one mall near where I work and that all the malls in the area were crazy, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Imagine that! So I sat in the car, and sat in the car, and 1 hour later, I exited the parking lot. YES it took 1 hour to get out of the parking lot. So I thought - maybe I would go the way I normally would. Well at least that was moving every five minutes, it took 55 minutes to get to the highway ( less than 1/4 of a mile away).  :( :( Then I was home in ten minutes after that.

And so here I am with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio.

What was I thinking??????????;)

I don't know what you were thinking, but I can imagine what you were thinking!   :o :o :o

I need to go wash my thoughts out! :p

I hope you have a good night Tony. :D Turn the lights on the tree on, sit back, enjoy your wine and relax. :D

Yowza! I know what *I* would have been thinking..

Tony. 4 words for you: ONLINE SHOPPING NEXT YEAR.;)

I'm sorry you had a bad shopping day.:( Do you want me to call that guy in the black Navigator and tell him a few words for you?;)

Why do you need an electric knife?

Yikes!!! You poor thing! My best friend and I were just discussing tonight how we were tired of driving and dodging cars in and out of parking lots! I'll be glad when this madness is over and I can guarantee that I won't be one of those people out the day after Christmas looking for a bargain. Enjoy what's left of your evening.:D

Oh Tony, I would have been completely crazed. I can't handle being in traffic on the roads, I just can't imagine gridlock in the parking lot

Tony, I'll taking you shopping next year. You will have a good time, traffic or no traffic.

I would run in and out! It was mid afternoon after all!

Hey Danny Boy - ^$#@%$@!@%$@!%#@! to you bud!

Shannon - I did most of my shopping online this year.

Vick - I have NO doubt

Pooh - I am usually out the day after Christmas - but I'll be working this year, which scares me - cause I work near 5 malls! The traffic should be fun

Good Morning Tony.........After reading your mall horror story yesterday (which btw had me lol) I just wanted to say
Merry Christmas and that I hope your holidays are peaceful:D

You need to have a few people copy this message and promise to e-mail it to you next year, right after Thanksgiving. :) It will be a nice reminder to get out shopping EARLY!

Glad you made it home ok finally. Thanks for the morning laugh! :)

Oh boy sounds like a nightmare!!!!!
I guess I was lucky our mall was not very busy at all yesterday.
WEll Im glad you got to enjoy your wine back at home. (Doesnt wine make it all better??;) :D )
Have a nice x-mas eve, Oh yea and stay home!!! :) :)

I just wonder, when the Malls are that crowded, how is it that the news still reports how bad the economy is and how bad the retail stores have been doing. If they were doing any better, no one would be able to get there at all.

I just don't get it.?

Do you know that I have not stepped into a store since last thursday?? I made sure I went to BJ's to get all my big shopping done , then I went to Walmart for all the small stuff , and yesterday I went early in the morning with the girls to Target just so they could buy something for daddy but that was quick and I got in and out without a problem before all hell broke loose.
The other day when I bought so much milk the cashier thought there was a snow storm coming, LOL, little that I knew it would happen on Christmas Eve/Day!!!
DH is going tonight to get MY presents....anyone wants to bet how many things I will get or even how many I will return??

Tony,
Next year take Shannon and I along - women are great for pushing their way out of parking lots - and browbeating salemen into selling the display items!;)

Carol,
I was thinking the exact same thing - everywhere I look, the malls and discount stores are packed - with carts overflowing with purchased items - and retailers are lamenting that they are not selling anything?

Pam

Ant - You would not have been able to Valet park yesterday - since they closed the mall!

I just spoke to a woman I work with, and her son works in the mall I was at, he left at 4:00 - was to be there by 5 - showed up at 6:30!

I just wonder, when the Malls are that crowded, how is it that the news still reports how bad the economy is and how bad the retail stores have been doing. If they were doing any better, no one would be able to get there at all.

I just don't get it.?
Carol - everything is marked down, and then many of the stores have coupons etc. I will say that I don't think I paid full price for any Christmas Gift. Even online - I had almost all free shipping, and some sort of discount.

Mskanga - don't count on many Christmas presents:eek:

Pam - you're more than welcome!

Yikes! That hurt to read!

Hoping you are recovering this morning, Tony!

Tony, I heard on the radio yesterday afternoon that both Willowbrook and the Garden State Plaza had to close down to incoming cars. There was no more parking at either mall!

I've been wondering who waits this late to shop. Apparently, a lot of folks do.
