We saw Fantasmic Sept 29th and the best part for me was always the end where the big ship comes out and Mickey is in black and white like steamboat willie and also when he stand at the top of the mountain and then magically appears at the bottom and the show ends... WELL, this time none of that happened and I was very disapointed!
Did this change for good or did something possibly happen when it had to end differently that day.
Has anyone seen it since, please let me know so I know for next time NOT to see it. THANKS!!

Fantasmic has been like this for around a month. I am not sure, but I am hoping the boat is being rehabbed or something and will be back. To me the "new" ending did not hold a candle to Steamboat Willie and all the characters on the boat.

I saw Fantasmic on 10/2 and they definitely had the boat with Mickey as Steamboat Willie driving. I'm 99% sure they did the thing with Mickey going from top to bottom also. Maybe you just caught an off-night?

I seem to recall that if there is even a chance of thunderstorms, they do not bring the boat out. (Don't want to have a boat full of CMs on the water in a T-storm!)

I know that Fantasmic is going to be off for a week (the week I'm there  ) in early November for a refurb.

I did know that from a previous trip. This time, though, friends were there the week of 9/17 and had no boat and then we were there the night of the 26th with no boat. But, we did have the Pocohontas part where the Native Americans go past in the boats as well as Belle, Ariel, and the other princess (who I'm blanking on). So, I think for at least a week or two it wasn't due to the threat of thunderstorms, since I assume they wouldn't have had any boats on the water.

I am glad to hear it was running on 10/2 though...all is right with the world, again. :cheer2:

So they stack 'em up on the "mountain" instead so they're less of a moving target? :goodvibes

Actually, there was a brief time recently that the "Steamboat" was out for refurb.

When I saw it in May, the part with the snake was taken out of the show with some new elements thrown in.

I was also there on 10/2 and you are correct- Steamboat Willie... happened- but something didn't happen.
The malificent dragon never breathed fire- did you notice that???

When we were there mid Sept, they only had the princess boats.... no Mickey in b&w with all the characters, the characters were just on the mountain. But they did have Mickey at top and then bottom. Weird how they change it around like that... maybe it does have something to do with the threat of storms, it was yucky out the night we saw it but never rained.

on 10/1, the boat was there with all of the characters

Glad to hear that it isn't permanent! :thumbsup2 I was bummed on 8/31 when they all came out on the mountain and there was no Steamboat Willie.

We had a "weird" thing happen at Fantasmic on 9/27. I guess there was not enough of a breeze to blow out all of the smoke from the special effects. Not only did we not have the Steamboad Willie boat (I was so disappointed, cause we had great seats) but at the end several characters started out onto the stage, some on the right being led by Minnie and some on the left being led by Donald. There was tons of smoke so Donald and his group turned around and marched back in. Minnie and her group continued out, but obviously could not see where they were going. Mary Poppins had to grab one of the "costumed" characters and move them to their spot. Then at the end, you could not see Mickey at the top of the mountain. The spotlight was pointing to the right spot, but it was just too smokey to see him. It was kind of an anti-climactic way to end the show......."Some imagination, huh?"......and no Mickey! :guilty:

This exact thing happened Tuesday 9/26 . It seemed like there were several miscues and then the ending was not just confusing - it was bad. We chalked it up to a bad night for Fantasmic but it's interesting that this whole week seems to have had trouble.
