What was banned at your school?

Another person who went to school in the 60s and 70s. Girls couldn't wear pants until I was in high school in New Mexico in the mid-70s. Before that I was in school in Georgia and Ohio. Boys couldn't wear jeans. Then the mid 70s happened and I don't think anything was banned at school in New Mexico.

I can't recall anything in particular. I went to a small Catholic school, but they were surprisingly lenient about that kind of stuff. I mean, you couldn't have anything out during class, but at recess and such, I can't remember anything being outright banned, anything not dangerous anyway. I do know one thing that was not banned: books!

This was in the 60!'s, so ALOT!
No slacks for girls. Had to wear a dress or skirt and it hand to hit the floor while kneeling or you had to go home and change. For boys, no blue jeans. They wore dress pants, usually black, with ban lon knit shirts or short sleeved cotton button front shirts. No tennis shoes, but wore dressier shoes.

I actually liked getting dressed up every day in a nice outfit. Those are very antiquated ideas now, I know!

I graduated in 75, Smoking was done across the street on a dirt hill.
The boys didn't really have or need a dress code
#1 They wore their pants up to the waist
#2 Their parents didn't buy profane type shirts and they weren't going to spend their own money on clothes

The girls-no daisy dukes, no dresses/skirts/shorts too short. No spaghetti strap or tube top type shirts.
We lived in a cow/chicken town so denying jeans was not an option.

Honest question here... Why were Trapper Keepers banned?

I remember having one for most of my years in school. I remember it seemed that everybody had one, but they just kind of faded away by the time I graduated. The best I remember was just because many of the teachers were weird and required certain notebooks or binders for their class, it was just not practical to use a Trapper Keeper because you already had so much junk to carry around.

Pagers. Because supposedly only drug dealers had pagers.

also drugs (including cigarettes) and alcohol

Boys couldn't wear jeans.

i remember in elementary (60's-early 70's) boys could not wear white t-shirts except under a collared shirt b/c they were considered to be underwear vs. outerwear.
