What views do you get in a Poly standard dvc studio?

Tokelau upper floor is my usual request for SV at Poly and I’ve had surprisingly good luck… gotten the partial theme park view several times! Had a Pago Pago courtyard view once and that was lovely, too.

I’ve never had the parking lot view but prefer to think of it as “monorail view” since I’m sure I’ll get it eventually! LOL

Pago Pago is really not bad at all. You are so close to the TTC that it is a 5 minute stroll to a monorail. We like this building quite a lot. As a bonus you don’t hear the boat horns like you do a Moorea.

I always choose SV at Poly & have only been given Pago Pago’s parking lot view once so far. I’ve stayed in Tokelau several times & have never had a bad view there. I’ve never stayed in Moorea.

After our last visit, my request will actually be Pago Pago- ground floor, garden/courtyard view, opposite end of the ice machine. 😉 I loved it there!!

My wife and I just bought our first DVC contract at Poly and plan on going in September 2023. We have more than enough points for SV or LV for the entire stay. Is it worthwhile to just book SV and bank the remaining 82 points for 2024, or is LV worth only banking 29 points for 2024? My boys will be 8, 6, and 3 when we go, if that’s important. We bought this without having stayed a Poly, but we fell in love with the resort in the videos and wanted to do WDW each year with them.

We own Poly and haven’t spent the points on lake view yet, we’ve been happy with our standard view rooms and the point savings is nice. We don’t spend enough time in the room to justify the extra points and would rather use that towards extra nights or a 1 bedroom at another resort. I would also hate to spend the extra points and end up on the first floor looking right at the bungalows. We are probably in the minority, but we even enjoyed our standard view room in Pago Pago… it faced the parking lot, but our boys were thrilled to watch the monorail from the room. With 5 of you I doubt you’ll be sitting around the room much so I would save the points!

The first time I stayed in the DVC wing, we had a late-night arrival. I had the furthest room all the way at the end of the building. I'd stayed at Poly before but not enough to know building locations. It's also DARK around there at night.

The next morning, I walked over to open the curtains and was like "Let's see what kind of view we have here." Followed by, in horror, "THE TTC?? PEOPLE???"

Since then, we call the DVC wing "The Ticket & Transportation Center Resort & Spa." 😂

We have stayed in Moorea twice with a standard view. Basically facing Pago Pago, not much of a view but it didn’t matter really.

Does a 2nd or 3rd floor LV in Moorea provide a view of the fireworks? We plan on going to MK multiple times, but I could see a view from the resort being a nice perk. Still a lot more points though.

Just think of all the people seeing you look out your window.

They’re thinking how nice it must be to wake up so close to the TTC! :teeth:

Congrats! We love our Poly home and I am sure you will as well.

We always stay SV - we request Tokelau 2nd/3rd Floor NW facing. And we have always been really pleased with our view. That being said, my friend stayed LV last year while we were there and her 3rd floor direct view of the castle was pretty spectacular. If you do go LV, request 3rd floor for sure.

My wife has said she’s fine with SV but I’m guessing she means lush vegetation. I’m the one who thought fireworks from the balcony on resort days would be a nice way to wrap up those nights. I suppose the benefit of DVC is it won’t be our one and only trip.

Yes, you can. Fireworks are front and center to the Castle. Of course, the higher the better. You can still see it from the first floor, but the bungalows will block the view of the Castle.

Whether or not to splurge for LV is totally a personal decision and how your family vacations. We've always done lake view, but it's because DVC allows us to vacation differently. We spend equal time in the resorts as we do in the parks. So, on a resort night, it's nice to open up your curtains to see the MK fireworks from inside your room. Heck, it's always nice to open the curtains to see the Castle! If you have enough points, I would say do it once and see how it goes. Some families prefer a "better" (subject to interpretation) resort experience, but some prefer to bank points for a future longer stay. We travel from NY and stay in PVB once a year, so we can bank to rent but we prefer to just use it ourselves.

Just remember, the view is nice, but the ferry horns can be an annoyance to some. If you have light sleepers, LV may not be the best for you. Also, since you have younger kids, 1st floor may not be a deal breaker. My friend actually prefers the 1st floor with 2 young kids. He can open up the balcony doors and the kids can go out to see the ducks, rabbits, and squirrels. He claims that it's like having your own backyard with fireworks in the distance.

Congrats and Welcome Home! I bought PVB sight unseen without ever staying there as well. It was the only thing I bought that my wife was happy about afterwards. Can't say that about last night's dinner, though! :)

I will also mention that if you book LV you have about a one-third chance of being on first floor.

We just stayed standard view over Thanksgiving and requested 1st floor… we have 2 kids and my brother has 3 so the first floor was awesome with kids and strollers. We were assigned Tokelau facing the quiet pool and we could see some fireworks if we stepped out onto the grass. My brother’s family had a good view just going to the end of the building. We also enjoyed fireworks from the pool while the kids were swimming.

Check out touring plans room finder… you can click on each room and they show actual photos of the views.

We are in a similar boat. We are from about an hour outside Chicago so it’s a once a year vacation for us so we could use the points for longer, better vacations than we could normally take. I booked and cancelled an AoA vacation and decided to do DVC because I saw how much better our vacations would be with it. Before we bought, I checked the points chart to ensure we could stay a week or more any week of the year in a LV (except Christmas, but I want to avoid those crowds.) My wife wants 2nd or 3rd, as do I, but for different reasons. We did a weekend away in September and stayed on the 1st floor with a patio. My oldest son ran out the back door and it took us about fifteen minutes to find him. So she’s hoping a balcony will give them something to look at but also keep them contained a bit. I really want a spectacular view of the castle and fireworks. Thanks again!!
