Need seating for 5, with 3 car seats (two rear facing). What vechicles have a 3rd row that is not a mini-van?

The only one I know of for sure is a Toyota Highlander.

Mazda 5
Ford Taurus X
Acura MDX
Hyundai Santa Fe
GMC Acadia
Honda Pilot
Subaru Tribeca

Yup, I was going to suggest the Traverse, also. We love ours. :)

I was completely AGAINST buying a mini van. They are SUPER ugly IMHO! But, if you take the time to compare one to the other options you have been given. You may decide that the room is well worth the ugliness! We looked at a few Mvans this weekend and we will probably get one. We had almost settled on an acadia before looking at Mvans though. good luck, lots of options out there!!:cutie:

We have a Ford Tarus X that has 4 buckets and the 3rd seat has room for 2. They might call it a Freestlye also it is not a large car but it is roomy inside.

Chevy Traverse
Buick enclave
GMC Arcadia
Saturn Outlook

You can only get 2009 Outlook since Penske did not buy Saturn.

Taurus X is no longer made and the freestyle does not offer a third row, but the Ford Flex does.

The four I stated above have more cargo room than the Honda Pilot.
This past November we got rid of our mini van and looked at the above 4. We went with the Saturn because we got a great deal. GM is still doing all the mantience for us.

You guys are great. I'll start the reserach based on these lists.

Sorry. This daddy just can't stomach taking a mini van to work every day. :rotfl:

That is TOTALLY how I felt when we had our third child! I told my DH I had a rep to protect! :lmao: I was adament about getting a Honda Pilot but then we went to test drive the Toyota Sienna at his request and it was clear that there was no comparison in terms of room and ease of use with all the car seats. It's been a great vehicle and drives like a car. Good luck, but with all those child seats you really oughta give it a try. It's only temporary! :)

That's why we bought the Traverse. ;) I refused to drive a mini-van, but with the Traverse, we still got all the room we wanted, without it being a mini-van.

Win-win for everyone. :lmao:

I'm with the other minivan converts....NEVER wanted one....NOW I wouldn't want to live without it!

DH and I share it and our Malibu - so both genders get our turn with it. TONS of room...can't beat automatic doors....kids can climb in themselves....8 passenger seating - so can bring friends along to the zoo or other....

We are now convinced it is a must have with kids. :)

Oh - and we have a Chevy Venture.

When did they stop putting a third row in the Freestyle? I thought that was the whole point of a crossover :confused3 My Freestyle has a third row. I have 7 seatbelts and WAAAYYY more room than I had in my Expedition.

The Dodge Durango is coming back this year.. my dad has one from the last year they were making them. Seats 3 across in the middle row very comfortably, and can seat 3 in the 3rd row also. Or the 3rd row fold down into the floor, and you have a TON of storage room back there.

We had a Ford Freestyle (now the Taurus X)-ours had a bench seat in the second row, but I think bucket seats are more common. Loved this car...but the gas mileage was blah. We had the AWD version and it was great driving in during the snowy Wisconsin winter.

Now have a Mazda 5, the third row feels more cramped to me..but is fine for little kids or for short adults for short distances. This is not a mini-van, but is a bit less manly looking IMHO. It's pricetag as well as the gas mileage are way better than the Freestyle ever was. Hubby is taller and chubbier than I am, and he thinks the Mazda would not be comfy for him to drive long distances. It seems to fit me better (I am only 5'2").

I liked both cars, but I still think mini-vans offer a very family friendly set up...easy to get to the third row, more cargo room, etc.

Our next car? Likely a new Taurus, roomy backseat and lots of trunk space. (This may work with three car seats across the back too). we only have two kids, but also have a 140 lb dog to lug around.

From what I understand the Freestyle became the Taurus X, which is now discontinued.

That Flex has a ton of room. I have not driven one, but hubby brought one home for the neighbor to check out. Her hubby is 6ft and sat in the third row with plenty of room. The owner of the dealership has been driving one for about 6 months now, hasn't swapped out.

I have a Volvo XC90. I have the third row.
