I'm a widow, don't really consider myself single but I guess I am; with 15 year old DS and 19 year old DS. Both fight over only 1 thing. Who gets DVC points when I die. We purchased our DVC in 2000. My DSs have no problem going to Disney and we all hate when we don't have a trip in the works.

two grown up (chronologically) siblings, one married and one single, no children involved. Purchased DVC to entice more far-flung siblings (Alaska and Japan) to WDW for frequent reunions!

I guess the closest is "Purchased as a group," though it was a very small group.

Okay...we're married with a 9yo, 4yo and 3 week old....so we have both a majority of kids under 8 and a majority of kids under 13. Which one do I choose?

When we joined we had a 5yo and 6mo......but would have joined as a couple without kids if we could have managed it!

Married with two five year old boys. Yes it is pricey with small kids but they will remember the trips over the toys I would buy them instead.

I chose purchased as group, we own with FIL, but he's only used the points once in the last 3 years More for us!! Anyway, we bought in 2001 when DS was 2 and DD was a "thought" but not yet a "twinkle" However, I did get a souvenier from that August '01 trip!

We joined because we couldn't afford NOT to!! We are such workaholics, that in our 12 years of marriage...we have taken 2 vacations...and they have both been to WDW!!!

We knew that if we didn't have "pre-paid" lodging, and that we would "lose money" if we didn't go...we wouldn't go...and then our dd would be grown!!!

I didn't realize how happy owning at DVC would make us...we're newbies...but, we think about it every day!!! I can't wait to go...and, I can't wait to add on!!!! I guess the "happiness" in life is just a little fringe benefit!!!

I put my family in the Couple with children under 8. When we bought in 99, our dd was 3. Now we have a ds to add to the picture, he is now 3 and she is now 7.5 yrs old. Financially we make DVC work, we can't image not having it. Our kids love every trip we take and the excitement in between trips is fun too. I'm already planning dd's wedding in Disney, but shhhh! don't tell dh - it's the cost that get's him all choked up!

We have 2 dd's 11 & 13 and ds 17. We bought when they were 8, 10 and 13. We visited WDW a ton of times since the youngest was only 2----wish we would have become Members sooner, but we did already have an offsite timeshare and dh couldn't justify the need for another "timeshare". I'm the odd one out! I'm single, just broke off my engagement, and only 23. I knew if I didnt purchase now that I never would. I also spent the last 3 years worrying about him and now I'm doing things for myself (buying DVC, losing weight) I'd always be saying that it was too expensive and I'd find other things to pay for! I'm also a crazy workaholic and I figure this is guarantee that I will try my best to take a vacation to WDW every year. People question all the time how I can afford it, but my theory is if you want something bad enough you'll find a way to afford it. And that's what I've done.
I saw that the price was going up on 4/4/04 and I knew I wouldn't be a CM forever so now was the best time to take advantage of DVC (especially since I've wanted to own DVC since I was 12!)
My ex has the biggest problem with it since he can't even afford to grocery shop! (he has major money issues and debt and doesn't care to do anything about it! a reason we are no longer together!)
But now I'm stuck with 180 points and no one to go with (what a terrible thing to be stuck with ) I'm thinking I'm going to book a vacation, see i any of my friends can come and if not I'll go alone!

We bought in 01 and at the time had an 8 month old and 5 year old now we have 3 of them the oldest will be 8 in Sept the youngest is 1.5 so we are in the under 8YO category.

Well we have a three year old and if you figure that we are both Disney nuts and he loved the 2 times he has gone it is really economical for us since we plan to go ALOT for the next 18 years at least. How could we afford it? Well the only thing that helped alot was the equity in our house. Being we are from LI ny our house almost tripled in value since we bought it. That along with hubby working his butt off. I work part time as an event photographer. AND a really low interest rate for a loan it is less than a car payment for us and it will be paid off in 5 years if not sooner(the plan is to make extra payments) If you figure out the savings it is worth it for us to do it now since our son is young we have many many vacations at disney ahead of us

So there is my justificatioon for blowing a ton of money on future fun LMAO.

we were a couple with kids under 13 (DS was 8 and DD was 10). Wish we'd bought when we were just a couple, but couldn't afford it then because we had just started a new business.

We love our DVC and have our kids looking forward to using it as they get older for Spring Breaks when their in college.
