What type of music are they playing at Jellyrolls these days? Is it just popular tunes, Jazz, Latin style, lots of Disney music, Broadway? Since it's named after a Jazz Pianist (Jellyroll Morton), I kind of thought maybe it would be Jazz but then with Pleasure Island Jazz Company there, I wasn't sure Jazz was popular enough to be at 2 locations. Also, DS is 21 now, so he can go, but no one in the family has ever been. Is this the type of place he might enjoy by himself (he's a music major)? Do they serve food (snacks) there?

JellyRolls is a dualing Piano bar. They tend to play what ever the crowd is requesting. You write your request on a napkin, throw a couple bucks on it and put it on the piano and they will play them. They have an array of different types of music that they play.

The don't serve "Food" you can get popcorn and drinks, but not a meal. He might have fun going by himself but would probably enjoy the atmosphere more with at least one person tagging along :)

My DD & her hubby stop there after dinner at the Yacht Club for a drink and had such a good time that they stayed until it closed.::yes::

Is there a cover charge? I think we'd like to stop in for a bit, but are watching our budget =) We love the jazz club at PI, esp with the one at the piano is doing requests =)

Yes, there is a cover charge. Believe it is currently $6 per person, plus tax.

21 and over.

Also keep in mind that Jellyrolls is not run by Disney and will not allow you to use your Disney resort room key to charge drinks, so bring another means of payment!

Jellyrolls is a lot of fun. It's one of my favorite places (in case you couldn't tell by my signature and avatar :) I never miss it when I go down to Disney and often wind up there several times each night.

The songs are by request. Pretty much, if it's something you can sing along to, they'll play it. You'll hear lots of Billy Joel, Jimmy Buffet, Elton John, and the like. The piano players are fantastic (Scotty and Ray are my favorites). If you see Scotty, tell him Karen from Boston says Hello (he does a great "Buttercup").

When I was there in December, the cover charge was $7, and it's worth every penny :)

Any more questions, let me know.

Karen

We LOOOOOOOVE Jellyrolls!!
My fiance and I usually spend each night of our vacation there until the very wee hours of the morning (okay 2:30, but after a whole night of singing and laughing, it seems a lot later)!!

In Dec, friends of ours went on vacation, but we couldn't swing it, it was so depressing for both of us...until my cell phone rang around 11:30 one night and Scotty was on the other end...TOTALLY cheered me up! They're such nice guys, the atmosphere cannot be beat, I highly recommend it!

A friend of mine called from Jellyrolls and left a message of Scotty singing Buttercup on my voicemail in January. I knew she was going, so I sent her a tip for the song, and she called me when he sang it.

Jellyrolls is great! Make sure you put in a good request; if you put in something that's way out there, you'll get 'picked on'!
BTW, they still allow smoking in there unlike just about everywhere else in FL now since they do not sell food. I don't understand this though in the context of Pleasure Island, all clubs there are now non smoking even though food is not served...
(don't get me wrong, I think it's much better at PI now since it's smoke free, but it seems to be less visited from my experiences because of it).

Karen, aren't DISfriends the greatest!?

How shocked was I when Scotty was like "Sarah, get your butt down here and tell Travis to stop watching Sunday Night Football and bring you to Florida!" LOL

We talked for about 5 minutes, made my day :)

Now I'm even more anxious to get down there!

I was just there last week so I just wanted to put my two cents in. Yes the cover charge is still $7, its well worth it though. It just tends to get a little crowded inside, so get there early and grab yourself a table. Drinks are also a little pricey, just like PI and any other bar in the area though, but it is definitely worth it to go. Its such a fun atmosphere, with people of all ages dancing and singing.

what time is early? and do they have tables for large groups? thanks in advance

I'm not sure what time they open, but we got there a little after 10 and the place was packed. Most of the tables seemed to fit 5 or 6 people around them, but its the type of place where if you can find an empty seat, it shouldn't be a problem to move it over to your group.

Enjoy your trip!

The crowds seem to pick up sometime between 9:30 and 10:00. I like getting there right at 8:00, plopping down in a bar stool, and staying the entire night. The first hour or 90 minutes is fun when there aren't a lot of people because the piano players interact with the audience and ask for requests. Of course, it's just as fun when the place really starts hopping as well, and everyone is singing, and dancing.

It wasn't even a DISfriend who called me when Scotty was singing "Buttercup." Just someone who I ride the bus with who decided to go after hearing me talk about it so much--I even found out which night's Scotty and Ray were working during her trip so she could see them.

Scotty's a good guy, and he's very good at his job. He's fun to watch because you can tell that he loves what he does.

Check your PMs, NHDisneyKid. I sent you one :)
