As I was reading the thread about which "required reading" books that you hated it got me to thinking. I really enjoy reading lots of non-fiction books-especially history books pertaining to royal and noble familes.

I don't read too much fiction. Basically, the only fiction that I will usually pick up and read all the way through are the "classics"-Shakespeare (whom I love and understand), Austen, Hemingway, etc. I'm also more drawn to historical novels like Gods and Generals, but, with the exception of JK Rowling and Dean Koontz, I usually stay away from current authors.

So, what are you're favourite types of books: fiction or nonfiction?

Magazines - that's about all I have time for and sometimes not even that!!!

What types of magazines do you read? I tend to gravitate towards Time andNewsweek.

I love to read. I was an English major in college so I read lots then (obviously). I love Shakespeare, W. B. Yeats and William Blake. As for my current reading habits I've strayed from the "good" literature sort of in rebellion towards 4 years of having to read the classics:D Now I really like to read JK Rowling..I also really like women's fiction writers like Nora Roberts, Linda Howard, Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Rachel Gibson. I pretty much read anything I can get my hands on. I love books. :bounce:

I read all kinds. Usually not the classics though. I get bored too quickly.

Non-fiction, fiction, magazines.

Non-fiction, whatever catches my interest at the time. My h got scared when I read the book on "How to disappear". lol I'm curious about a lot of things and I read about them. Finances, history, health, pets, space, beauty, relationships, etc.

Fiction, thrillers, romances, historical romances, mysteries.

Magazines. I love Consumer Reports. I hate spending more money than I need to for something. I also get Family Fun and Dog Fancy.

I like both fiction and non-fiction

For nonfiction, my fav is behind the scenes books about movies 'n such. Sometimes I like historical stuff too.

My favorite fiction is usually children's and young adults books. I love historical fiction, ghost stories, time travel, anything magical or out of the ordinary. I love the American Girls Collection and the Dear America series.

I love reading, although still being in college takes away a lot of time I would enjoy spending on reading for pleasure, in order to do required reading. I am usually drawn to fiction. Two of my favorite authors are Linda Howard and Kathleen E Woddiwiss. I also really enjoy most works by Jane Austen. I am not that big of a fan of non-fiction works. I also love tourism type books.

I enjoy both nonfiction and fiction.

My nonfiction reading could be many things including biographies, some history, travel-related subjects and lately, anything mysterious.

Fiction is usually total escapism for me. I like mysteries and ghost stories most of the time.

I like magazines too, usually about restoration and again, travel.

I love to read! When I was a kid, my parents used to forbid me to read. (In the immortal words of Dave Barry-I am not making this up) It really was for my own good though, I would spend so much time in the summer reading that I wouldn't go outside and play with my friends.

I mostly read fiction. I read a lot of mysteries, but I like a little of everything--from Maeve Binchy to Stephen King. I like Jonathan Kellerman (just finished The Murder Book), Jeffrey Deaver, Dean Koontz, Harlen Coban. I am waiting for Jean Auel's Shelters of Stone to come out in paperback and DD & I are eagerly awaiting JK Rowling's latest Harry Potter book in June.

And of course I always read the posts here on the CB.
:teeth:

Everything and anything. :)
I read non-fiction on topics I'm interested in. Last month it was the Bermuda Triangle. This month, the development of amusement parks.
Fiction, I like Debbie Macomber and Jeffrey Archer. And, of course, my Star Wars novels. :p
Magazines, I read my Entertainment Weekly devotedly, and Newsweek. And Reader's Digest. Sometimes I pick up First for Women, as my friend is an editor.

I like Non Fiction, Biographies and I have gotton involved in reading the Left Behind series by Tim LeHaye about end times prophecies.

Everything and anything! :)

Fiction, non-fiction, poetry...

We need to add a "library" wing to our home!
