What transportation do you use to and from MCO on a solo trip?

I will be starting my WDW vacation at an off-site resort very near the Disney property. I have always taken Mears to get there, but their website says they only go to Disney-related resorts now. How do other people travel solo to and from MCO without spending a fortune on it? Mears is only $16 each way, you know.... Can I wait until I am at MCO to choose my ride, or are all the taxis and ride services pre-booked now? I have always bought my Mears ticket after arriving at MCO.

I generally use Lyft to get to the Kissimmee area, especially if I’m carrying a lot of luggage. It is possible to get down to the Disney Springs area on local transit if you have some patience, but I wouldn’t recommend it with a lot of luggage. I don’t know of any other shuttle services outside of Mears going from the airport though.

Mears connect. In 2023 I used an uber though because I went to all 6 parks in one day and needed to get to the airport late in order to give me enough time to get to the 4 Orlando parks before going to California

On a side note I have TSA precheck and also got a free 60 day trial for clear… without clear I would have missed my plane as TSA was a complete madhouse that day.

I seem to always get super weird uber drivers in Orlando. In California the drivers seem normal other than the fact that they drive like bats out of hell there. They will get you from LAX to Disneyland in a jiffy though.

What I always used whenever I flew in from Vermont. I rented a car and was free to be wherever I wanted to be, whenever I wanted to be there.

Other than the last big family trip (scheduled a driver for 8 people) I always use Uber when traveling solo.

I use Lyft when in the area - I've never had to wait a terribly long time and it is not crazy expensive (although is considerably more than the $16 you see with Mears.)

I always use Uber. I don't even book until after I get my luggage. And Uber gives you a photo of the driver, description of the vehicle, even the license plate # (although sometimes there's no front license plate), so I've always felt safe.

Mears connect. Can't beat that $16/way. Only thing better is Lyft/Uber, but they'll cost you double! I don't mind the wait with Connect. But if you're in a rush, it might not be for you.

But I think you can pay when you get there. Lol I've never tried.

Mears outside Disney resorts are pretty limited considering how many hotels are outside/non-disney. Drivers would really be driving a while/making the trip longer (unless they grouped some together). Have you priced their taxi service? Perhaps compare it to Uber's price.

Besides renting a car, private town car is another option.

I was going to use Lyft for my solo trip but my flight arrived really late after midnight actually and they put a surcharge for after midnight so I ended up using Meers but if it had not been for the surcharge I would’ve used Lyft / Urbers work really well also to go to the Airport
Good luck and have a wonderful vacation

Rideshare all day long. I have been taking them for years even at home and never had issues, and if you're scared there's so many safety features in these apps nowadays specifically for peace of mind. I frankly trust them more than taxis.

My vacation time is too limited and valuable to faff around with Mears. Waiting around for ages and being taken all over Narnia before my resort was fine when the cost was baked into my resort stay in the DME days, but there's absolutely no way I'm paying for the privilege.

Used Magic Express for years. The one time I went alone after Magic ended I used an Uber. No worries.

I would use uber or Lyft. I check rates on both once I get my luggage and then book while walking out to the ride share pickup area.

Rideshare for me also. I am often offsite and use it to/from the parks also. 62 yo female, never felt unsafe, even after a party at 12:30 AM!

Off site transportation costs are often why I stay on property solo. $32 once and I’m done. I typically rent a car when off property, but holding an AP since that pays for parking. With no AP, now parking costs start to add in, making Lyft or Uber more attractive.

You can get a rideshare when you get there, no need to pre book. Now, if your return to the airport is super early in the morning, you may want to schedule that.

I took the Lynx bus. $2 and it stopped right outside my hotel near Disney Springs entrance to WDW
