French Quarter looks lovely! What views are available there? We really liked the streets/"interior" part of FQ but we also really enjoyed our river view at Riverside.
I liked having my camera (Canon T2i), but I definitely saw a lot of people with similar models who seemed to have no idea how to utilize them properly. I think it depends what you want to do with photography - I got my camera because I enjoy astrophotography (and that's pretty much my only background in photography) and a point and shoot doesn't work for that. There are cameras in between dSLR and point and shoot (I have something like the Canon PowerShot SX20IS, which is a little heftier than a point and shoot, and I brought both to Disney). Personally, I don't see the point of a dSLR if you don't want to put in the effort to learn beyond automatic mode, but that's a MMV point. They are deceivingly expensive (in time and money) and even then you aren't really "guaranteed" good pictures, a lot also comes from the photography/editing skills of the user too. I had a really bulky camera bag (2 lens, 2 cameras, various other 'stuff', I can find the dimensions somewhere) and didn't have a problem on any rides. It was more difficult on Space Mountain to get situated quickly but my bag fit in all rides. I'll be taking a smaller bag next time because we've learned what we do/don't need. idk, it's kind of a personal thing and I did lots of research of different levels of cameras/equipment and made sure that I was buying what I needed since money was a factor. I don't think there's a wrong choice!
I'm jealous of the ISO on the T3, but I probably will move into a new camera body in the next couple of years so I won't dwell on it too much.
I wouldn't worry so much about the lens bundle. I would get the standard 18-55 and read up on lenses.
The photography forum here has wonderfully helpful people.
Hi Stephanie!! I totally agree with you on cameras. I have a Nikon Coolpix point and shoot and I think I spent more time trying to find the perfect setting than I did enjoying my surroundings. I definitely want to take a better camera next time I go. I am subbing to your thread. Can't believe we were at POFQ at the same time but never ran into each other. Except for Tusker House when I was too much of a wuss to go up to you and my Husband saying he will not use our spending money as bail money for me stalking a strangerI should be starting our first full day in my TR soon!!
Yay you saw the castle! Isn't that the best feeling ever? I get emotional seeing it, hahaha. Such a cute photo with Donald!I am totally getting a photo with Donald this time! I regret not stopping, but this time we are getting more character photos!
I liked Pecos Bill's when we went, but I got a burger one time, which I thought was pretty tasty. I did get the taco salad and while it was okay, I didn't really like the taco bowl either. Way too greasy and heavy! I think this trip we'll probably go there once, but otherwise definitely sticking with Cosmic Rays and finally trying out Columbia Harbor House!
Can't wait to read your next update!![]()
I love those blown glass "bottoms". I wonder why I didn't notice them? Sorry you didn't get one. I wonder if you can order one delivered to you?
Did you notice in the 2nd Photopass picture, there's a seagull on the spires of the castle? I bet not many people have that shot! Original.
Sorry you didn't grab a decorated glass.Every year I come home and say "I wish I had gotten _____." That list is pretty long.
Love the pictures, keep them coming!!!!
DH has said he's going to guess all of your DF's t-shirts. So you got an extra lurker now.I had your TR pulled up, DH looked over and calls out "Pac Man! Awesome!"
Anyway ... sorry you didn't enjoy your food at Peco's. I've never eaten there, but your food at least looked good!
Hmm... not sure what your first ride will be ... but I'm going to guess ... Haunted Mansion!![]()
After that we headed out and got a PP.

Up next: My first ride! Any guesses?
Loved the update!!!
I am totally IN LOVE with the Donald bottom vases... After all, the Duck Butt is my favorite! :luvstruc And your picture with Donald is adorable too... He's so cute!
We've eaten a Pecos Bills many times, and really enjoyed the burgers with the toppings bar... It's actually our fav CS meal... So, hopefully things haven't changed much since we were there last,b ecause we are planning to go there again during this trip.
I can't believe I was able to guess the shirt... Pac Man...
Can't wait to see more pics!
D~
Okay - LOVE the update!!! And it sounds like you're making headway figuring out your camera needs & wants
I have an observation - where are people's FEET in PP pictures? Ever notice how 99% of the time the PP Photographers crop your feet OUT of the picture? I find it VERY odd.At first, when I saw my PP pictures, I just assumed it was dumb luck. Then I saw a couple of other people's and realized they were missing feet too. Now here are yours and guess what - NO FEET!!! I know PP Photographers are given very specific instructions on how to take shots, what settings, etc. but what on earth does WDW have against feet???
Sorry Pecos Bill's wasn't to your liking. For CS at MK we really like Columbia Harbor House. We tried something new for us this trip and I was less than pleased. Cosmic Ray's is also pretty good.
Let's see - First Ride . . . I'm going to guess Big Thunder Mountain.
I believe you were seated a two top right by the entrance of the dining area. Where you were seated, your view was the wall. We were seated at a four top against the wall. We were right in your line of view. I am not sure if you had just sat or not. We were at Tusker House on Tuesday morning and our ADR was when it first opened.
I'm interested to see if he'll know them all!
I seriously have a HUGE list of things I wish I would have bought!I'm going to make that one of my last posts actually
The cake was good. The taco salad was just so greasy.Maybe we'll have to try it again....but theres no rush.
Loved the update!!!

I've got money that I'll know his t-shirts, too. We're a geek family ... and I'll disown my kids if they don't follow in our footsteps.
And I can guarantee DH will know your DF's shirts ... even if I have to sit here and ponder on it. Then he'll fuss at me for not knowing it.
Every year I come home with a huge list. This year, I am sooo getting a D&B purse. It's a regret I have every year ... and I dwell on it, so it must mean I really want one.
There's lots of good CS places in MK, so definitely don't get in a rush to try it again if you didn't care for it. I absolutely love CHH, and it will probably be where we dine at (again) in March.![]()
I wanted the Donald one, too. And when I saw it, I said to myself "I bet D will get one in March!"
I have feet in my PP pictures!
![]()
So it must just be you guys.![]()
Now I'm really excited to see if you guys will know them...some are pretty difficult.
I really want the D&B with the Minnie bows! I was drooling over it.
I have feet in a few of our PP, but not near all.
We're gamers. I'd be shocked if we didn't know them.DH has a subscription to a gaming magazine, plus he reads websites daily. Then he tells me all about them.
I haven't seen a D&B with Minnie bows! Sounds awesome!
1st post: UGH I threw up in my mouth a little at the thoughts of the hair in your breakfast :S
Glad you arrived safe and sound, the room looks beautiful!
2nd post: Oh the Christmassy things... I could cry! I love it all so much!
First ride? I guess Spash Mountain!
Great report so far! I've had the taco salad at Peco Bill's and I didn't like it (too greasy) but DH did. There was way too much beef in it as well. Glad you found the carrot cake delicious though! I'm going to guess Dumbo for your first ride?
