I am not quite sure where to post this question, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place. DH and I are going to WDW at the end of October for a few days to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We have never been in October before and I am wondering what type of clothes we will need to pack. I have looked at some weather sites and it looks like it is usually pretty warm still. I really want to wear shorts and maybe a sundress to dinner one night. For those of you that visit this time of year, is it usually warm enough for shorts, t-shirts etc... ?

We visit in October (mid month) fairly regularly, usually after a Disney cruise. We usually spend another 4 to 5 days doing the F&WF at EPCOT. We both pretty much wear shorts & tee shirts during the day. In the evening DW may take a windbreaker for the parks (depending on the forecast). She'll usually wear slacks & a nice top if we're dining out, outside the parks, e.g Yachtsman Steak House, Flying Fish etc.

We visited last November and only wore shorts and t-shirts but we are from Iowa and it was a lot colder there(actually, it was snowing at the time we were at Disney) so low 70's, which happened a few nights, felt nice to us.

Majority of my trips have been in October. Three have been between the 2nd and 10th, and last year, was the 21st-29th. I have been lucky in that I only had two days where it rained just a tiny bit, and I wore shorts or skirts the entire time. The weather was perfect. This year, I am going in November and a bit more nervous, because there's a chance for more of a temperature swing. I am hoping my luck holds out.

I always go in October and the weather is how you describe it. We went November last year and the weather was very nice (shorts and t-shirt) but we had two days that were very cold. Disney was selling out of gloves and hats. We bought blankets to wrap around my daughter in her stroller. I would bring one pair of jeans and a sweatshirt/jacket just in case. I was funny to see everyone purchasing winter clothing. The rest of our 10 day stay was excellent swimming weather. It was just a strange cold snap that can happen. It can happen in October for that matter but I think November it is more of a possibility.

Ive been there when it was 85 in December. Shorts will work. Just bring a sweater or light jacket for nights, if you tend to get chilly

Since I'm coming from Pennsylvania, I usually wear warmer clothes down anyway. I've actually left for the airport when we were having snow flurries. Lol. I thought about tossing a hat and gloves in just in case. Especially the latter, because I have peripheral neuropathy and my hands really bother me even more when it's cold. So hoping my luck holds out. :D

Check the forecast and bring warm clothes in a bag in a locker, it can be cooler sometimes

The same clothes that you would wear in July wherever you are from.

If the sun is shining, normally it is warm enough from mid morning through to late afternoon to wear your light summer stuff. Last Fall, it was a bit chillier than usual and so a lightweight sweater or sweatshirt for early morning rope drop and for after dinner was needed. Definitely pack at least 2 prs of long pants (or use the pants/jeans you wore on the flight in) as your comfort level may vary depending on what you are used to. In the first week of Nov last year, I saw people wearing gloves and toques/beanies as well as lined jackets in the early morning bus line. I am Canadian so am good with shorts, t-shirt or polo all day with just a light sweater for the early a.m. or later p.m. 55-65 F is balmy weather for us in the Fall & we'll take it and squeeze a couple extra days of shorts weather out of it. However, if you are used to the heat, then you'll be miserable in shorts/sundress in those temps. For a bit of piece of mind, watch the weather forecast carefully the week before you get on the plane. That should give you a better idea closer to the date. Only you know your cool weather tolerance and if you feel the chill of early mornings/late evenings, consider packing at least 2 sweaters/hoodies, long pants, stretchy mitts/gloves and a hat. Hopefully you won't need them!

I really do appreciate all of your comments. We live in Ohio, so in October, it can be cool or down right chilly. I will definitely keep an eye on the weather forecast and make sure to take jeans and a jacket. DH wears shorts all winter here, so I am sure he will be fine in shorts. :)

Check the weather right before you go. Sometimes October is sizzling hot, sometimes it is freezing cold. And one year it was both within a 10 day period. Arrival day I had on a tank top and shorts. 6 days later we were all buying hoodies in order not to freeze.

We were there immediately after a hurricane (day after) and it was cool for October. As a PP said, check weather forecast before you go. October is a great time to go!

October weather can be all over the board, from blazingly hot and humid (mid-90s), to warm and pleasant, to even windy and somewhat chilly -- all in the same trip! I went in early October 2009. I packed according to the weather forecast before leaving home, which predicted 90s and very humid every day. So I packed shorts, sleeveless shirts and sandals, for the most part. Perfect clothes for the hot, humid weatherthe first six days of the trip. However . . .

I went over to the gulf coast for three days, and when I returned to WDW the temps had dropped about 25 to 30 degrees and it was really windy! The last few days of the trip were pretty uncomfortable; I layered the best that I could, but really, really wished I'd packed a few warmer clothes! And I was reluctant to buy a $60 sweatshirt two days before I left WDW. Now, no matter what time of year I go, I always pack a little bit of everything, just in case!

On one early November trip there was a run on warmer clothes at World of Disney and a sweatshirt was impossible to find anywhere. That lasted 2 days of the trip and then pants and a T were fine.
