What to wear?

If you are looking for looking for a show, let me HIGHLY recommend Jersey Boys- the best show I've EVER seen, and my husband (who actually sounds a lot like yours!) LOVED it, and he doesn't like anything- HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend- only reason I'm even looking into KA is because I've seen so many shows in Vegas I'm running out!! Normally I avoid the Cirque shows, because I feel like they are all the same- if you are not set on a Cirque go to Jersey Boys, I promise you will not be disappointed.
I'll run it by Joe. Thanks for the suggestion!

We also are 50+ and go to LV every year. We normally go in December and I think all I usually take are jeans, tennis shoes, turtlenecks and a zip-up sweatshirt.

Warmer weather I would just substitute my jeans and turtlenecks for t-shirts and capris.

You can get into all the shows (Cirq, Penn & Teller, etc) and all the casinos in this attire. As you stated, you will not be going to the up-scale restaurants and clubs, so you will absolutely be fine.

I always figure that if plans do change, they have plenty of stores/malls in Vegas and we can get something there. That, of course, has never happened! LOL.

Just wear what you would normally wear around town and be comfortable. As long as you have money to spend, you will not be turned away!

Re shows - Smokey Robinson presents HUMAN NATURE !!! I think they are at the Imperial Palace and you can get tickets for about $50. A super, very up-beat show in a classic Vegas showroom. You will love it!!!

Some fine dining restaurants have a business casual dress code, but it's more of a no list - no flip flops, no shorts, no ball caps, no torn clothing. What you described would work virtually everywhere.

There is a great outdoor bar at Harrah's. It's called the Carnival Bar (I believe). We've been to Vegas twice and that is probably the place we enjoy most at night after we have dinner and perhaps see a show. They have a variety of music (live bands/dj's) and there's always a lot of people watching that can be done there. Both trips were in late September and we had very warm weather both times. No humidity like here in Michigan so it was very comfortable to us. We are taking our adult children for their first trip to Vegas in the spring and we are staying mid-strip because we want to be close to Harrah's and their outdoor bar. They also have a great dualing piano bar at Harrah's that we enjoy almost as much as the outdoor bar. Enjoy yourself whatever you do! No one will care if you were tennis shoes.;)

I think that would be the rule.

Some people use it as a reason to dress up, some to lay back. Other than a few places which is sounds like the OP is avoiding there is no dress code. I've only noticed people overall being dressed a little fancier in the evening as people get ready to go to clubs.

But clothing for walking, sun and heat, and possibly cool evening breezes or rain is all you need.

In reality for September there is almost no chance of rain. But the month is transitional so early in the month won't need a jacket, in the end a light jacket may be helpful.

No rain in Sept, No cool breezes either. Lots of Sun, lots of heat. September is still summer for us. :faint:

Jersey Boys is awesome. Its not even my type of music. Excellent show.

Anything goes in Vegas!
September is still very very hot in Vegas--avg 98. (now I LOVE 98 in Vegas) but jeans could be very warm. I recommend a lighter pant or short for your husband.
Be sure to drink plenty of water. Mornings are lovely, shaded areas aren't bad & after sunset is lovely as well. (plus there are all those air-conditioned casinos to pop into...)

I understand you are from Vegas, but you didn't read my posts carefully here and elsewhere.

September is much colder than August and July in LV. Pay attention as summer ends. It's the desert and a 95F day can have a 65F night.

Averages:
July H101/L80
August H103/L80
Sept. H98/L72--much colder??!!
(yes, it may get to 65 at night in late Sept...still, definitely not cold)

The first 2 weeks of Sept are very very Vegas summer-like. The last 2 weeks are more like summer in the rest of the country--still hot.

(skiing--I don't see another post by you on this particular thread; not understanding that remark)

My remark wasn't toward you if you are curious send me a PM.

In any case many people wear jackets and pants in September for when the day cools off or if the wind feels cold. So I suggested to keep that in mind as a possible need.

Sixty five to 70 would be wonderful! I'll have an assortment of clothing so I should be ready for the temps. I've heard that they keep it cold in the casinos so I imagine I'll be changing into khakis in the evening if we make it back up to our hotel by then.
