Never been in the US, so I'm not quite sure what to expect when we go in December 12/03-12/09 to WDW.
Do I need my 'toronto' winter Jacket ? can I just take my Fall Fleece Jacket?
Do I need Gloves? winter Hat ? or can I leave that in the Car in Buffalo??
When they say it get's down to 40-50... what does that mean ?? low 10C??

Please help!! trying to decided if I should put away my summer clothes or if we will need it for our trip.

thanks

Layers. It can get cool at night in Dec but afternoons can still be swimming weather. I would say your fall jacket would be good but I would bring gloves because you may be outside at night for a few hours. (Say if you were watching Fantastmic). 40 F would be single digits celcius.

In Dec 2003 I went to the pool in my suit but for me it was too cold to actually swim.

And yes Buffalo has Park n' Fly and many of the hotels offer it with a one night stay as well.

For Dec we take a fleece sweater and some long pants for at night some nights you may need it but not always. In teh day we have never had to wear them it has always been shorts weather for us on our Dec trips. We have usually averaged about low to mid 20's most days sometimes higher and at night about 12-15 celcius.

The weather in Orlando in Dec can be very variable - notwithstanding the average temperatures at that time of the year. It can be as warm as a warm Canadian summer (I have experienced 80 degrees F in the daytime) to a mildly cold Canadian winter (I have experienced temperatures in the thirties in the daytime, with a (yes!) windchill below the freezing point).

good to know, I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the link

We were there Dec.3-13 of last year and the weather was amazing--high 70's to mid 80's :sunny: , we wore shorts most of the time and went to Typhoon Lagoon twice (the locals said it was "unseasonably warm"--lucky for us!!)--until the last couple of days and it got really quite chilly mainly in the evening. A fleece jacket just didn't seem like enough as the wind just "cut" right through you :cold: You won't need a winter coat but I would definately do layers and if its warm keep them in a locker at the parks in case you might need them later on that day!

One December we went it was amazingly warm weather. We loved it. The next December we were wearing our sweatshirts and coats. I have a photo of my mom all bundled up while we waited for the Electrical Light parade and the fireworks. Hot chocolate was selling well the week we were there. :rotfl2:

Truly...it was warmer up here those few days!!!

2003 we froze and in 2004 I was too warm (some days in the mid-eighties)

I bring shorts for the day, a fleece and a couple of pairs of jeans. I do short sleeve shirts even with the fleece. My DH does shorts unless it's under 10C...but he is just weird thatn way... :rotfl:

A great big smile because....you are there!!!
Have fun, lots and lots of fun :Pinkbounc
Last year when I was there with PhotobearSam to celebrate my 45th Birthday, we only had one coolish day, but mostly we where in short sleeve tops. We even went swimming while the maintenance staff were running around in jackets!! ( it was rather funny that some how they knew we were from Canada)

:rotfl: :rotfl2: 45 eh???? Wenabre....bad DISer... :rotfl2: :rotfl:

:rolleyes1 But Photobear Sam...you said that I could have whatever I wanted on my birthday as long as it wasn't riduculous, and I figuered asking to be 29 again would be pushing it so I went for 45 :ssst:

Oh, BTW Claud26, I find the little wool gloves you get at the dollar store do just the trick, if your hands get cold. Plus if you lose them, you don't have to worry about an expensive pair of leather gloves.

I'm getting really confused here. I am from St. Catharines, which is kind of in the middle of Toronto and Buffalo. And, last year we visited Disney from Dec. 6 -9. It was extremely (for me, sometimes unbearably) warm! I had worn a fall jacket that was somewhat on the heavy side and by the time we reached the outside of the Orlando airport I wanted to strip down to my underwear. For me, it was just that hot.

During my visit, even at night, the most I ever wore was dress pants and a tank top one night to Pleasure Island.

This year, I am visiting the second week of November... should I expect some cooler moments???

Check the 10 day forecasts on the internet just before you go. That should give you an idea of what the tempertures should be when you're down there. Their weather is as wacky as ours is right now. Remember, two weeks ago we had the air conditioner on and now I'm turning blue when I venture outside!!!

Maybe I should stock up on those little stretchy gloves, I know sometimes you can even get them 2 pair for a dollar. Then I could pass them out to shivering children at the parade!

Well if you found it hot in December...it should be warmer in November (of course, perhaps you had unusually hot weather in Dec. and it will be cooler than normal in Nov...you never know with this time of year...

Now July, August ,Sept....same weather pretty well every day (hot, humid, thunderstorms in the afternoon).

Those stretchy gloves don't take up much room and will fit into a jacket pocket quite nicely. We took some with us when we went in February 2005 but I found we didn't need them, although I did see a lot of people wearing them. I can't remember the exact amount they were asking for these at the gift shops and little kiosks around the parks but I do remember being quite surprised that they could charge so much for something I paid $1.00 for.
