What to wear to Josh Groban concert? - UPDATED-I'm back!

If you wear your AC/DC t-shirt it will make it easier for your DH to find you when he comes back from the concession stand with beers. That's because you'll be the only one there with that shirt on.;)

OOO, have fun!
DH and I are going to his concert next week, March 21st.:woohoo:
I think I will wear a skirt and top and have DH wear khakis.

This is not true. I have seen Andrea Boccelli in concert at an arena and people were dressed more than business casual. In the opera crowd it would be a bit odd to show up dressed in jeans and a shirt. I don't remember anyone dressed like that at all. It was not a fancy arena (they play hockey at this arena). It does depend on the artist. Nobody stood up, and they definetly did not sing along. Well- one person tried to but another person quickly put a stop to that.;) It is alot different than a Bon Jovi concert.

An opera crowd will dress up to go to the mailbox. But Josh Groban isn't opera last I checked...

Gee....that wasn't very nice. I guess I am part of the "opera crowd" since I do go to the opera, but I can assure you that I don't get dressed up to go to the mailbox.... :snooty: Josh Groban is not opera but he is also not considered to be a wild performer which is what I was trying to point out. There are different crowds at different concerts. Sorry about that....

mouse house i know what you meant ::yes:: DH would def. wear khakis and i would dress up a bit for Josh Groban, he's different from a rock band :)
I love Andrea too!!

I would be very surprised if everyone attending an arena show wore business casual, unless it was a very special event--I'm talking about some sort of grand opening or charity type event.

My guess is that the people who wore business casual either came from work, were over dressed or were attending a show in a specialy venue, Sprit Square comes to mind. (LOVELY venue!!)

I couldn't disagree with this more if I tried to. OP, I would totally wear business casual or even better. Just because people choose to wear housing cleaning clothes to a concert doesn't mean that others feel comfy doing the same. I find that in the smaller venues in Chicago to see a nice show, the dress code "bar" has been raised. We went to see Barry Manilow a couple months ago and EVERYONE was dressed nicely. Last month we went to see Supernova (Tommy Lee's band) and believe it or not, because of the small venue thing, people were dressed much nicer than if it were held in an arena. I go all all kinds of shows, I dress by taking into account 1) the venue and 2) the entertainer.

Don't forget Ducklite does this for a living, so is probably more lax about it than others are.

When I saw SuperNova everyone was in jeans and t-shirts--lots of "Crue" shirts! The only people I saw dressed up were people who had obviously come right from work and not had time to change, and of course the bimbo's in spandex tube dresses, 5" stiletto's, and half a can of hairspray in their hair driving poor Rae crazy by the backstage door. I had come from my day job and was probably in black capris and a sweater. (I can't recall exatly)

Next weeks shows are Nickleback/Breaking Benjamin/Three Days, I'll be in jeans and a tank top, and Tom Jones, where I will wear black jeans and a black top--a little dressier, but not dressed up by any means.

Anne

sorry totally :offtopic: but how was this concert?? i was dying to go, but DH said NO WAY :)

The concert was great - every time he comes to Chicago I go see him with BFF, I finally told DH that he just had to come with me one time. DH (Mr. rock n roll) would only admit it to me, but he said the show wasn't as bad as he expected. :lmao: I caught him tapping his feet to the music a couple times. :lmao:

I was being facetious. But opera afficianados do tend to be a more affluent crowd--and that affluence generally tends to dress a bit nicer on a day-to-day basis.

Maybe you think that the only shows I go to are "wild performers" but I assure you that is far from the truth. In the past six months I've seen some wild shows, but I've also seen Ziggy Marley, Jonny Lang, and Journey, as a well as a two terrific decidedly non-rock acts--one jazz and another folk-ish.

The only one of those that I saw people uniformly dressed up at was the jazz band, as it was at a benefit with a dress code.

Wear extra bras and panties so you have something to throw up on stage.

And Mom, if this is you, ignore that advice.

I said that they were dressed nicer than they were if it were held in an arena. I was at the show in Rosemont (suburb of Chicago) and I can attest first hand that people dressed a bit harder because of where we were. Chicago in the winter tends to lead more toward the business casual side. Now if this show were in the summer, I could totally see the dress code loosening up. Its even the same thing for me at work. In winter you dress up, in Summer, not so much. Sure there were Crue shirts and Panic Channel shirts, but nothing like I've seen at a Rock n roll show.

All I'm saying is that here the crowd at Supernova was indistiguishable from the crowd at KoRn. Bimbo's and all.

Earplugs? :lmao: :rotfl2:

Sorry, he gets on my last nerve most of the time. I couldn't resist.:grouphug:

I understand what you are saying about the opera crowd being maybe mre affluent but I never said that you only go shows with "wild performers". I happen to be a big rock and roll girl who has been to Monsters of Rock, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Bon Jovi, LA Guns to name a few. I even used to dress like a bit of a bimbo although I would never engage in such activities. The point I was trying to make was that while I love my Rock and Roll there are different ways that people dress for different concerts. Nobody at Pink Floyd was dressed like they were for Kiss. Get what I'm saying? Josh Groban is more adult contemporary. It's a different crowd.

Anyway- since you saw Supernova, how about posting some pictures of my favorite Rock and Roller Tommy Lee?

:lmao: hahaha! Dhs are usually like that! He took me to see TIm Mcgraw and i sim singing along!! he still won't admit it!

My husband didn't like what he saw and heard. He doesn't think I'd like the show either, but after all the rave reviews fom other people including my co-worker, I'm kind of curious to see a show. I guess I should listen to a CD first though...
