What to wear to Artist Point?

Have 6:30 ADRs for Artist Point on our first full day. We plan on going to MK that day at or near opening time (plan...)
We are using the transportation system and don't want to return to POP Century to change for dinner since we want to go back to the park.

I prefer to overdress but hey, it's Disney...We don't wear tank tops or jean shorts unless we are gardening and I have NEVER been known to do that tacky "bra straps as an accessory" thing. That said, would what we wear to MK be ok for dinner at Artist Point? BF will definitely be in sneakers and I would be in sneakers or sandles. We're from NY so unless it is below 65 we'll probably be in shorts or (for me, not him :flower: ) a knee lenth skirt.

Artist Point is one of the restaurants that recently switched to a more formal dress code. We will definitely change clothing before dinner, not wearing the clothing we wore to the park to dinner. I'll be wearing full-length docker pants, a rolled-collar golf shirt, and deck shoes. My wife might go in capris, and a nice top, but nothing necessarily fancy. Nice sandals should be fine.

I can't remember exactly what my wife and I wore the last time we were there, but I don't remember being overly concerned with appearance. I think I wore a pair of khaki pants and an untucked button-up shirt. My wife probably wore a knee-length skirt. I am positive she wore some sandals and I wore flip-flops. There was not a set dress code by any means...I think you should be fine.

I believe the dress code is less than two months old.

See - that's the great/awful thing about discussion boards. I love the diferent opinions but am still just as confused over what to wear since the responses have been so different?
Any idea what they would say if I called? When I made reservations I was told, no cut offs/tank tops, but I wouldn't wear that to Burger King anyway.

Will BF be ok in nice shorts with a collared shirt or polo?

I made my reservations at the beginning of December and the CM seemed really on the ball.

Anyone been there in the last few weeks???????

Maybe I should hope for a cool day so we won't want to wear shorts (no, I just can't do that...Heat Miser - hook us up!)

The dress code is only a request at all disney resort restaurants. You will be fine in shorts and sneakers, believe me. We have went in everything from shorts to dress up clothing...we are always accepted. We have been there as recently as just a couple months ago..so go, enjoy your dinner and don't worry about changing.

krissyh - are you going with kids? or just you and your spouse/partner? The reason I ask is, if you are taking kids through the park from opening, then going straight to dinner at 6:30, what you have on is going to be the least of your problems. Because your kids are going to melt down in Artist Point. :bitelip:

I can't recommend strongly enough that you incorporate some down time, especially if you are touring with kids but even if it's just the two of you, between a day at the parks and dinner.

No kids (wouldn't force children to sit through a nice dinner after a day at the park!)

Just two energetic and realtively fit 35 year olds! We have the next day scheduled as a "down day". Thanks for the advice. I think a lot of people with kids should take what you have said to heart. Everyone would enjoy dinners more!

When I made my ADRs on Dec 26 for our upcoming trip in June, I was told that shorts are acceptable - no tank tops or beach wear. I booked Artist Point for our first night dinner too, as well as California Grill later in the trip. The CM taking my ressies said shorts and a polo type shirt were acceptable, as well as, of course docker pants and/or capris. Sandals were also acceptable (I asked); I'm not sure about the flip flops though.

Those were my only two "dressy casual" restaurants that I booked, although I plan to add Yachtsman Steakhouse for our last night dinner. Not sure if that's one of the "dressy casual" restaurants too.

Enjoy your trip!!!

"Dress " shorts (whatever that may mean) jeans pants and sneakers/sandals are all perfectly acceptable in the current dress code at signature restaurants such as Artist Point. My guess is that you'll see the code unenforced and all sorts of dress the nite you dine.

We ate there Monday night. I noticed all kinds of dress. Personally, I wore black dress pants and a teal button down shirt with slingback heels. DH wore dockers, nice polo shirt and Rockport shoes. I like dressing up to go to dinner though, not everyone feels that way, and that's fine. :)

We ate there for our anniversary a few weeks ago and I changed from jeans and sneakers in capris and shoes and DH wore a collared shirt. I wished I hadnt bothered because most people were very casually dressed.

I ate there two weeks ago. I wore jeans and boots and a blazer.

Well, you know what they say.... the "knee" is the man's cleavage! :)

I just made our reservations for early April and was told business casual...I agree with what you said though--unless someone showed up wearing something outrageous, I would be shocked to see this requested code enforced.

We ate there on Dec. 10 and had changed before going, however there were folks in all kind of clothes; they obviously are not enforcing it - as someone said, it is probably a suggestion. (Fantastic meal, by the way)
