and in terms of value for money - is it worth it over travelling economy/coach ....
OMG yes!! we travel alot (at least 5 transatlantic a year) and always book PE and then use the miles once a year to have a free Upper Class return trip.
PE - especially upstairs - is MUCH bigger, the seats are MUCH bigger, the legroom is MUCH bigger. thats what I pay for, knowing that I can have a relaxing flight, without my knees to my elbow and seats that hardly recline as per coach.
its all about priorities - I can afford it, it doesnt take budget away from my vacation so I will book PE.
If the scenario was that it left me with less money for my vacation once we got there - I would possibly rethink it.
and in terms of BA v Virgin on PE - Virgon walks all over BA, better seats, better space, better entertainment. Where it does lack is in the cabin crew - BA is much more professional and mature..which I do like.
