What does everyone wear all day on Castaway Cay?
My son and I are planning on playing in the water and riding bikes. We'll wear our bathing suits of course, but then I was thinking about just slipping on some shorts and a t-shirt over my suit for bike riding.
Do people just run around in the swim suits all day? Are there lockers to stuff things in, or does everyone just throw their things next to a chair?:confused3
I'm sorry if this is a silly question.

It might be a silly question, but I am subbing to see what others say. :rolleyes1

I guess that makes me silly too. ;)

If you're going to be in the water at all, just wear a bathing suit all day. There are no lockers and the floors in the restrooms get pretty wet from dripping bathing suits, so changing could be an adventure in keeping clothes dry.

Use LOTS of sunscreen!! The sun there is intense!!!

We wear our suits with something over the top of them. (shorts/shirts/swim coverups). Especially if we are going to be in the sun for any time at all, don't want to get to much sun. Look like a lobster.

Being a guy, I wore my trunks (the type that look like shorts) and a polo shirt (T-shirt is fine, I just don't wear T-shirts). I put my shirt by my chair and nobody messed with anything.

The wife wore her suit under some shorts and a shirt. We are modest people and are not comfortable eating and walking the island in bating suits. So, if you are like this feel free to bring clothes to wear over your suits. Don't expect to be able to change into something dry.

My DH just wore a T-shirt and his swim trunks, and I wore a sarong over my bikini. Most people just walked around in their swimsuits and coverups. Most of the kids were in their bathing suits. I don't recall ever seeing any lockers, so most people just leave their things on the beach chairs.

We stayed in our suits all day but had cover-ups.

I would say 90% of the people stayed in their suits with a cover up on. The day goes by so quickly there unfortunately because you have to board so early.

No need to pack any special outfit for Castaway Cay. One of the best things about it is that it is so relaxed. Wear comfortable shorts and a t-shirt, or a cover-up or sundress.

Wear whatever you wear on a typical beach day, usually with a coverup and flip flops. I will add that there will be a professional photographer right when you get off to take what will probably be one of the BEST pictures of the entire cruise, with the ship in the background. (and you may want to ask them to order Christmas cards out of this shot too) So just keep that in mind, if you want to look nice for that. But then its a great beach day ahead of you!:)

Another tip on the sunscreen, apply in your room be fore you get off the ship, lot easier on everyone! We had a day pack and put our cover ups in them, Left them in our chair when we went to lunch, excursions etc. no problems!

We do this every time we are at WDW, or any summer vacation. Put the sunscreen on before leaving the room, normally when we put our swim suits on (and even when the girls are naked so we get all of them, no straps getting burned around.)

Then we use the spray on sunscreen to replay and while at the beach, since you don't have to rub it in. Rubbing sunscreen on sandy bodies can hurt. I love the new spray in a can sunscreen. You need more of it so pack at least 2 cans for a vacation if not more, and not on your carry on.

I just bring a pair of cut-offs or shorts to slip over my suit, DH, a t-shirt. The absolute most casual day of the trip. Although I sort of wear this type of get-up everyday while cruising! I love wearing my cut-offs at the ports. That shabby-chic look that keeps the vendors at bay. "Oh...she can't afford to come in our store!!" Haha!:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

And water shoes or waterproof sandals, if you've got them. Especially if you're going to the adult beach. There's a lot of coral and shells in the sand and water areas, and from personal experience, nothing stinks more than cutting the heck out of your foot and then trudging around all day in the sand.

Hi DisneyPhD...we are wearing our bathing suits!! Girls will have a coverup and guys will have a T-shirt!! We are doing the bike riding too!!
Only 11 days 'til we board the ship!:cool1:

For those that are naturally clumsy..watch out when you're wearing flip flops by the chairs... I was making my way though the sand and my baby toe got caught on a chair. It swelled up pretty big and was purple by the end of the night. I had to wear my flip flops to dinner b/c my nice shoes hurt.
