What to wear in December?

Can we wear shorts the first week in December? Do we need coats, and how about nightime? Can we swim? I have not a clue! Sorry if this is a duplicate post, it did not show up the first time.

We are going the first week in December as well. Previous posters have said that it is best to bring clothes for every climate. It can definately be warm enough for shorts and cold enough for pants and coats. The pools are heated but it may be chilly getting out on some days.

We will be taking a couple pairs of shorts and t-shirts as well as some jeans and sweatshirts. We will probably take a fall type jacket as well. We can dress in layers if it is very cold. I refuse to wear a heavy winter coat in Florida!

For a December trip you really need a little bit of everything. We've made several early December trips. Some trips we wore shorts the entire time, others we never got to put them on. Most likely you will experience cool/cold mornings and evenings and pleasant temps during the day. But, your vacation could start out warm and by the end of the week it could be freezing! You really just never know down there! Most of the time we wear shorts with a long sleeved t-shirt and a jacket or sweatshirt during the mornings and evenings. During the warmer part of the day we just stow the jackets in the stroller. I typically pack expecting the weather to be fairly warm, but always make sure we all have long pants, warmer shirts and jackets. As far as swimming goes, all of the pools are heated, so technically you can swim year round. We have been swimming on our last 3 December trips without freezing to death! HTH-Dana

Weather in December is unpredictable. It can be warm or cold. The best thing to do is to pack for both conditions.

We went one year for Christmas and made the mistake of assuming the weather would be fairly nice. We got there and were shocked that the weather was actually cold, especially at night. We're from Boston and we thought it was cold, so I can only imagine how cold other people thought it was. There were actually signs around the plants saying that they had frost!

However, this January when we were there it was warm enough to swim everyday!

It means traveling with more luggage, but that's what we've been doing. I think it's better to be safe and have things you don't wear then not have the right clothes for the weather.

The answer is yes, yes and yes. We usually wear shorts, jeans, coats and swim. The weather is very funny in Dec. You have to pack for anything.

aw take the jacket.... it was 32 one night in early dec...you might not need it but your really should take it just in case unless you want to freeze. ( most of our trips we have had at least afew days/nights cold( as in ohio cold) weather

I've been to Disney in mid-December when the wind chill was actually below freezing!

We even wore light gloves during the evening watching Candlelight Processional last year. This was Dec. 19th, it was cold! A blanket to sit on, on the cold benches came in handy as well.

We were at WDW from 12/5-11 last year, and it was in the 80's every day and we never needed anything long sleeved. But the weeks immediately preceeding and following were much colder. Your best bet is to check the long range forecast for Orlando a day or so before you leave. That will give you a good idea of the weather trends and whether temps are generally expected to be above or below normal. We did this, and packed only minimal cool weather clothing. It's just too much, for me anyway, to try to pack enough of everything for every temperature range - let the weather forecast help you pack.

We have been in Dec and Feb. I feel the cold ....

When the wind is from the North, even if the sun is shining and it says 60-70 degrees for the forecast it can feel very cold. We always dress in layers and carry a backback with windsuits (like golfers use). I have a skier headband and stretchy mittens.

When the sun sets it cools off quickly. If you are just standing around waiting for fireworks or parade it can be chilly....

Definitely bring gloves and a hat for early December. I did, and boy, was I glad! Otherwise, you either pay Disney's outrageous prices ($12 for the same gloves I'd bought at Walmart for about $2) or you suffer with the cold. There are plenty of people rushing to pay even those prices, and so Disney always runs out. Gee, I could fund a future trip by going to Walmart before a December trip, then filling my suitcase with $2 gloves and selling them for $10. Disney wouldn't mind, right?

We go in December and will in mid = December this year. WE are bringing capris, tee's, shorts and a light jacket/sweater.

Once around Thanksgiving, it was 48 degrees early in the morning but rose to 76 in the afternoon. Another time we were there in mid December and it was 85 and sunny the entire weekend!

Bring your bathing suit, but it maybe chilly!

Yep, bring for anything. One year during MVMCP we couldn't get enough hot cocoa, very chilly. Then last year it was warm, you couldn't even give it away if you tried.

We pack for both. Also we watch the weather for that area about the week before to kind of get an idea of what we should pack more of.
