What to war the day we board the ship

Just wondering what to wear the morning we board the ship? We will be flying to Orlando the evening before the cruise and will be taking a limo to the ship. Should we wear real casual - ie shorts or casual slacks, or something in between, like a nice capri set with jacket that can be worn to a restaurant? Does it get pretty hot on the ship before you can get to your room? Hope this isn't a silly question.
Thanks, Adelle

We were very casual short and T-Shirts with our swimming suit in our day bag, but we are casual as a general rule, wear whatever you are confortable with.....

I think it depends on when you are going. We went in January and it was in the 50's. DS6 and I wore shorts and polo shirt and my wife wore a sweatshirt with shorts. (Cold where we came from so that was hot for us). If you go in the summer months, it can get pretty hot. Casual though is best imo. Be comfortable.

If you are going to be in Florida the morning of the cruise, just wear shorts and casual comfortable clothes. I can get hot boarding and once on board and if you are there for a long time before your luggage arrives at your stateroom, you may be sorry. The restaurants are all fine with casually dresses patrons on the first day. I usually wear shorts and a tank so that I can start getting some sun on this Wisconsin skin ASAP!! If we fly down from WI in winter the day of a cruise (RARELY!!! - We like to go a few days prior if possible), then I usually wear capris or a wind suit or something on that order. Since you will be in Orlando, just go with the shorts, pack everything else. The last thing you want when boarding is to be lugging extra jackets, sweatshirts and the like around.

We wear shorts/tees with swimsuits underneath so we can swim until our rooms are ready.

We have never not had luggage delivered in time for dinner.

I don't know the ages of those you're traveling with, but...

My 3 boys will dress in swim suits and t-shirts to board, DH and I will have our swim suits in our carry-on. We plan on relaxing by the pool before it gets too crowded, while we are waiting for the rooms to be readied. :sunny: (My own mother's travel code was to always keep a swimsuit with you on a carry-on - that way, no matter what happens - delayed flights, lost luggage, etc., you can always enjoy the hotel pool::yes:: :hyper: lol)

p.s. yes, we will all be wearing our custom Disney shirts on embarkation - just adding to the fun:hyper: :sunny:

I would wear evening wear over your swimsuit, so that if your luggage doesn't arrive in time for dinner, you won't offend the fashion police :teeth:

Also, there is an embarkation day picture as you are crossing over from the terminal onto the ship. We like purchasing these pictures, so we make sure that we are wearing tops that don't clash and that look reasonably nice.

If you are taking a husband or significant other, they may not feel comfortable wearing their capri pants, but you would probably be just fine.::yes::

Great question! I've been wondering this myself. I was most curious to know how many adults wear their bathing suits onboard vs. those who bring them to change into later. I'm not sure which to go with-I guess I'm most concerned that I'll look "too" casual for our boarding picture if I have a bathing suit on underneath. I'm definitely wearing shorts/sandals, though!

Hey, it's almost 2 months away...you can't be too prepared! ;)

Remember if you decide to purchase your embarkation photo from Shutters, you may want to be dressed in something that will look OK - Mine sits on my desk at work...as I dream...

Those are all excellent suggestions.

But you know what popped into my head when I saw this post title.

Camoflage!!

It would certainly be a fashion statement, if not an appropriate one. :teeth:

Ok, back to the real discussion.

MarkRG you are too funny!! Your post made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the laugh. I'll be ribbing Adelle about this on the cruise!!! What to war.

We wore our Disney Tshirts & jean shorts so that we would match for the picture. We will wear the same ones this year, though DS will get a new shirt & DD will get DS's shirt from last year. :)

Grrr...don't get me started on matching T-shirts!! On our last trip to WDW for my niece's 12th BD, our group of 8 had matching T-shirts for every day of the trip!! It was so nice to be recognized as a group, and our photos turned out great! Anyway, we are taking a family cruise in November to celebrate my nephew's 12th BD...this time with a group of 12. My mom, younger sis and I were planning on doing matching Disney T-shirts for our group to wear on embarkation day, but when I sent a second email to my nephew asking him to pick out a design for the cruise, my older sis wrote me a very blunt email back saying how he thought it was juvenile and why did we need them anyway as we were all going to be on the same ship!!! Oh, well...I'm still not over it, but I'm trying...really. Talk about squashing our Disney fun!

*steps gingerly away from the leather couch and smiles ruefully*

When my kids were younger I could get away with dressing us in matching tops....not any more....!!!

I wear Capris and top to board.

Oops! I'm so addle-brained, I just realized I can't spell - wear/war - there is definitely a difference! Sorry. Thanks for all the replies! Adelle

I've decided to dispense with any unnecessary bulky clothing and will board the ship in my bikini.

No one should mind, should they?
