What to take to eat

We have a 9 hour flight coming up. The Airline website says "food for purchase" so I'm thinking we should probably bring some snacks on the plane with us.

What are some good flight foods? I was thinking of pringles, granola bars and rice krispy treats. I figure those travel easily. Other suggestions?

I usually have honey roasted peanuts and either spearmint leaves or orange slices. They are chewy and satisfy the sweet. Pringles would be good. My son likes pretzels, gummy (insert creature here) and whatever the FAs bring around.

Just a caution on a few things NOT to bring: peanuts/peanut butter (sometimes the flight has a peanut-allergic passenger and other passengers are asked not to eat any peanut-containing foods), liquids/gels (unfortunately this eliminates some of our favorites like yoghurt, applesauce, jello), salty foods (airplane air is very dry and salty foods don't help, so we avoid these to prevent that dehydration headache).

Hope that helps!

I usually pack a regular lunch for everyone; sandwich, carrot and celery sticks, fruit and some munchies. Everything gets packed in a soft side cooler with frozen grapes as an "ice pack". I purchase water and or juice after security and add that to the cooler.

You do need to be careful of the liquid/gel rule, so mustard is ok on a sandwich but not on its own unless its in the 3-1-1 baggie.

This way we are all set to eat/drink what we want and when we want and don't have to wait on the FA's.

for us its all about protein - I like the beef jerky dd loves the sausage (way too greasy for me!)

I usually just buy sandwiches at the airport after going thru security (I'm sure there is a website with the cost of the food for purchase - with a 9 hour flight they do provide a meal)

anything the kids usually snack on - cheerios, granola, etc but make sure you get water bottles in the shop before boarding!

We pack sandwiches in disposable tupperware type containers. They keep them from getting crushed in our luggage and then we use them for packing fragile souvenirs on our flight home.

Some foods that have traveled well for us are pringles, those cookie to go cups (mini oreos, chips ahoy, etc.), granola bars, cereal bars, etc. We also bring empty water bottles (this is ok with the TSA) and then fill them at the water fountains after the security check points. Then we have something to drink on the plane.

Enjoy your trip!
