This is my first year 'hosting' Christmas morning with company ..

I'll have my 3 kids, my 3 step kids and my fiance's parents together in the morning for presents .. what is something quick and easy I can serve to everyone to eat after the mayhem?

We always like having fresh fruit and home made cinnamon rolls :) Yum!

I always prepare a breakfast casserole the night before. It has to chill overnight, so it's perfect to just throw in the oven. It's the sausage, cheese, egg kind. I've also seen a grits, etc recipe.

There was a thread like this last year so I know you will get some great suggestions.

We do several things but 2 favs are baked oatmeal and a sausage/egg cassarole. They get prepared the night before and left in the frig overnight to just be popped in the oven.

I have already been told no breakfast casserole of any kind which really limits me because thats what I always fix!

I know we are having fruit, cinnamon rolls, hash brown casserole and maybe just sausage. Not having a casserole really puts a damper on my menu!

We used to have the whole family over and our favs have always been - hash brown casserole, egg casserole & french toast casserole. You can usually cook 2 at once & all are meant to be prepared the night before. I just let the oven preheat w/the dishes inside.

If you don't want to worry about oven stuff, sticky buns can be made & cooked in a bundt pan the night before & heat them up with a baked ham & biscuits, fruit.

That is my favorite meal to cook, enjoy & don't stress!!

I always make a baked French Toast Casserole. It's made the night before, in the morning just sprinkle on the topping and pop in the oven. I then just scramble some eggs and microwave some bacon.

This Recipe serves about 10.

1 loaf French bread or any favorite type of bread
8 eggs
2 cups half-and-half
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup pecans
Place sliced bread in 2 large baking pans that have been sprayed with PAM.
Mix eggs, half and half, milk, sugar, vanilla, and spices.
Pour over bread.
Refrigerate overnight.
The next morning combine the last 3 ingredients and put on top.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg and bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until done

I make french toast with a sticky bun bottom. Really easy to make, overnight in the fridge and pop in the oven.

How about in lieu of the casserole maybe a breakfast pizza you could put together the night before and throw in the oven that morning. Another favorite but something that would have to be cooked the morning of is french toast ( I make mine using french bread) and an adult take on that theme is instead of soaking in the traditional egg mixture before making it soak it in egg nog (if you make your own with rum) Its an interesting and delicious take on french toast, of course not for the children tho....:goodvibes You could also make crepes and fill them with sweetened cream cheese and fruit preserves of your choice and then drizzle with coordinating syrup and a dollop of whipped cream...mmmm :) It really doesnt take that long to do, you could make the crepes the night before and then heat them in the microwave .....

SOS (chipped beef as some know it, but we use honey ham) and grits, Yum-o and feeds a crowd very easily and SOS is better the second time around.

How about the Breakfast Lasagna from Crystal Palace ;) You could just use frozen waffles/pancakes/pound cake, make the custard and pastry cream the night before. Heat the waffles/pancakes when you get up, assemble and bake. Voila, breakfast sugar spike courtesy of your favorite mouse. :mickeyjum

When all else fails I make quiche. It always turns out and I usually make two, that way you can vary them. I usually make one spinach and mushroom, and then another of whatever sounds good; broccoli and cheddar, asparagus and ham, etc.

I would advise as much make ahead as possible. I make "baked french toast" and don't even call it a casserole! Make the french toast the way you like it and put it in a well buttered dish or baking sheet that is at least 1 inch deep. Dunk the bread on both sides and don't worry if there is egg mixture all over the bottom of the pan, the bread will soak it up overnight. Bake for about 20 minutes and flip the pieces of bread. Place a small piece of butter on each piece of bread and bake again for about 20 min or until browned on top.

Either buy or pre bake some bacon and/or sausage. Just crisp it up and warm up in the morning.

You could also have a make your own breakfast parfait bar. Yogurts, berries, fruits, granols, etc.

If you have a waffle iron, put out the batter and have everyone make their own fresh hot waffle. Maple syrup, fruits, whipped cream etc. on top!

Here's an easy make ahead sweet bread recipe:

Walton Mountain Coffee Cake

1 bag frozen white bread dinner roll dough balls (or 18-20 dough balls)
1 package butterscotch pudding mix
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1. Grease a bundt pan (I use an 8 x 8 square pan) and put pecans in the bottom.
2. Put in about 22 of the frozen dough balls.
3. Pour the dry pudding mix over the dough balls.
4. Melt butter, cinnamon, and sugar over medium heat until the mixture is a little carmelized.
5. Pour the mixture over the dough.
6. Cover and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight.
7. Take out in the morning and let dough sit for 30 minutes.
8. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 20-30 minutes or until the top is slightly brown.
9. Remove from oven and invert on a plate immediately after removing from the oven.

I make a cranberry cofee cake, hashbrown casserole, and have a fruit tray with dip! I make the cranberry cofee cake a day or two in advance and wrap well in plastic wrap and put together the hash brown casserole the night before! I buy the fruit tray a couple of days in advance from Walmart! :rotfl: So, very quick and easy!:rotfl:

Breakfast pizza and crumb cake are traditional breakfast fare at my moms - she can make them both the night before - pop the pizza in the oven in the morning and then spend time with us - now I wish it was Christmas morning!!!!

We always make Monkey Brains (Cinnamon Pull apart type bread), but I can not STAND cinnamon rolls LOL This year I'm going to add a few more things that I can bake in the same oven, or maybe my extra oven....so I can snack a bit after they open their stocking things.

I've been looking for a good overnight french toast recipe, so I printed the one above (thanks KaseyC).....again, I can not stand French Toast....but everyone else likes it LOL

I could go for some good Chorizo and eggs like they make at the MGM breakfast (Play and Dine). YUMMY!!!! Who knows...maybe one day I'll figure out something I like that's easy to whip up while they mess with stockings.

We always have sausage balls and pigs in blankets on Christmas morning.

Yummy, I forgot about Sausage balls. I make a double batch for Christmas dinner at my MIL's a week prior....but I can always whip up another one, they are my favorite.

I enjoy sausage balls but only think to make them at Christmas!. How about ham biscuits? you can get a honey baked ham all ready to go and serve with biscuits.

Well whoeve said no casseroles should offer to prepare the meal themselves! how snarky!

I do a sausage casserole or an assortment of quiches.
