I have been putting this off way too long now.

When writing thank-you cards (for the gifts given at the reception)... what exactly do you need to say and how do you word it. All suggestions are welcome..

I wish I could be of some help....I just wanted to say thanks for asking because I, too, have not been the best about this! I need to get on the ball, but it's hard to write some of them, mainly the ones for people who we're not as close to(co-workers, etc). For my family, it was easy because I could be a little mushy and sappy about them spending our wedding day with us!

Dear ?:

Thank you so much for being a part of the celebration of our marriage. We enjoyed sharing this special time with you and your family! We really appreciate the _____________ you graciously gave us. We will (use it) (enjoy it) (whatever) - (often) (many years to come) (whatever purpose). Thank you again!

Sincerely:
Maggimus and Disney Husband (or whatever)

Hope that helps!!!!! :thumbsup2

I just wrote out a bunch of thank yous for our engagement party. I followed the rules of writing a thank you note that they taught us in school years ago (funny what you do and don't remember). The basic rules are 1- thank them for attending, 2- thank them for the gift, 3- tell them what you will do with it or how you are looking forward to using it. See sample below:

Dear Mickey & Minnie:

Thank you for sharing the joy of our day with us (or thank you for celebrating our love/happiness with us). Your good (or kind) wishes are greatly appreciated. We would also like to thank you for the lovely (or beautiful, generous, thoughtful) gift (or present). We are going to make good use of the annual passes - I am looking into booking our next trip already! Thank you again and have a wonderful holiday!

Love, Donald & Daisy

Btw, some of my relatives were more generous than others and so we did receive our share of regifted items and some duplicate toasters. For things I had no idea what to say about, I wrote things like "I was very excited to open your gift! The kitchen is Charles' domain and I am thrilled it is being furnished so completely." I also tended to write in a slightly larger handwriting (not so much it was obvious but just enough ;) ) when I was writing to someone we aren't as close with or didn't know very well. Good luck!

It definately does help. I wrote a bunch last night.. dont think I quite told them how I would use the things they bought them but hey... some of them made it to the mail and thats what I was hoping for. :rotfl2: Thank you though... you all are soo good at this stuff...
