What to ride during Spectro & Wishes?

Hello! We will be arriving Sat. afternoon (9/23) and have ADRs at the Concourse at 5:50. I thought we would head over to MK after dinner and get in a few rides and just enjoy the park at night. My family is not big parade watchers, and would be content to see wishes from anywhere in the park (the top of Splash sounds awesome!). Can anyone suggest rides that might have lesser of a wait and "lands" we should concentrate on in general? Any parts we should avoid? This is really an "extra" for us, as we had originally not planned a park at all this day. Any thing we can do will be a bonus!
Thanks!

I would go to the rides that you most enjoy. We always enjoy Buzz lightyear, but if you like Splash and Thunder Mtn, those make sense they are right near each other and farther away from the castle, where most people gather for the parade and Wishes. Where ever you go, it will be fun!

Riding Thunder Mountain during Wishes is AWESOME. Every time we do it, the CM's always tell us we're getting the best seats in the house.

Thanks for replies! Are lines really shorter during spectro and wishes?

Yes line usually are less during shows/parads/fireworks
Just avoid the attractions right next to the parade loop and the roped off area during the fireworks (which is in back of the castle)
Because tons of people end up grouped here...and it's easier to just avoid them alltogether then to try to get through/around them.

We did the PoC, Buzz Lightyear, and Dumbo ride. It was nice to watch the fireworks while riding the Dumbo. We've seen the fireworks and the parade once.. twice.. so we just skip it.

You've seen the fireworks and the parade once or twice so you "skip it"... but you DO continue to ride the same attractions over and over.

My kids and I went to the MK by ourselves on an EMH night in May. That was my plan too...we'd do rides during Spectro and Wishes. We walked on to EVERYTHING we did during that time. We arrived at the park about 15 minutes before Spectro so the lines were starting to be shorter by then because people were already sitting on the curbs lined up. We did Buzz, Barnstormer, the Teacups, Pooh, carousel, Peter Pan and IASW during Spectro. We walked back over to Splash and Thunder and did Splash once and then walked on to Thunder and it started just as they were about to start Wishes. We rode Thunder 3 times during Wishes without getting off. There was no one waiting and the trains weren't full so the CMs would just offer to let us stay on. One said "this is the best time for this ride b/c in 5 minutes, we'll be slammed full. After round 3 on Thunder we did Magic Carpets with our longest wait of the evening at maybe 3-5 minutes. After that we grabbed a snack and enjoyed that for a bit went back to Tomorrowland for TTA and Fantasy Land for Philharmagic before we called it a night. We never had to wait for more that just the ride that was in progress when we walked up to finish, most of the time we walked right on to things. I think that was the most we have done in the shortest period of time in the MK. It was great fun for all 3 of us!

We love Spectro and Wishes but this was a shorter than our average trip and it was our last chance at the MK (last night there) so I gave the kids the choice. They had seen Spectro and Wishes a few months before and knew we'd be back (and often!) so they wanted to do rides. I explained that Mommy couldn't stay up all night so we had to do one or the other. If we did Spectro and Wishes, we could only do a couple of rides OR we could do a bunch of rides but miss the parade and fireworks. They thought it was the COOLEST to be on Thunder during the fireworks. That was the first thing they told their Dad about on the phone as we were headed out of the park (Dad stayed home for this trip) and the first thing they told Grandma about in the morning in our room. :)

Glass Slipper Girl -

I've never tried that - but I will now! :thumbsup2
What time of year was it that you m anaged to squeeze all that in?????

Just a note to first-timers...

When all of these posters talk about "seeing" Wishes from a moving attraction, they are neglecting to mention that you will MISS MOST of the show (say, 80-95% missed!)

If you will be able to see Wishes at another time during your trip, its fine to see a bit of it from a ride one evening.

But if that's going to be your only chance to see the show (and you WANT to see the show) do NOT get on a ride expecting to see it.

Thank you.
