I searched but didn't see any, even though I know there were threads on this before. Anyway....

Our January Disney trip is a Christmas present for our kids. I plan to fill a big box with Disney stuff and have them open it and explain what it means = We are going to Disney!!! The kids are 3 (almost 4) and 2. This will be their first trip. What should I put in the box?

We did this last year. Our kids were a little older (7, 5, almost 3 at the time). They opend a large box that had Disney themed helium ballons in it. Also in the box were movies for the car ride and games.

So far I have:

Mickey ears balloons
Disney notebook/autograph book
Disney pens
Disney stickers
count down chain (we are doing one for Christmas so they will know what it means)
Disney water bottles
DVD
map

Buy a lot of glow sticks from the Dollar Tree so they have them for the parades.

Do they have little backpacks/carry-ons for the plane? Maybe get them each a bag and put coloring books and colored pencils and snacks in them.

What about a kids travel guide for Walt Disney World? I bought this for my 10 year old brother as I am taking him ( along with 8 others) to Disney for the first time in 2010. I also bought him disney socks out of Target dollar bin, Disney T-shirt, Disney dollars (don't think they make anymore) but could do Dinsey gift card, and the Disney customized map.

Ack. Baby just deleted the whole message!

Okay. My kids (ages 6 and almost 4) got new backpacks, binoculars for Animal Kingdom and AKL (but they used them everywhere), tubes of glow bracelets, Disney stickers, autograph books and a click Sharpie (this was big!), a new pack of crayons, a new math workbook and a new coloring book, and then some random stuff from the $1 bins at Target/Michaels (pens on lanyards, wallets, little notebooks, card games, pencils, etc).

The biggest hits were the Sharpies, the card games, the lanyard pens, and the binoculars. Oh, and the glow bracelets. Those were great on Fantasmic night. :thumbsup2

I got a reusable xmas bag at the disney store a few weeks ago. I'm going to fill it with the following. (My kids are 4,6,8 so they will get the hint right away)!

At the $1 spot (michaels and target) picked up disney notepads/markers and some packages of 12 glow bracelets. Also found mini activity books for the plane, and sticker albums. Online at disneyshopping.com the other day I got each kid a $10 mickey fleece hoodies for the trip (it gets cold in jan!). Then I found some old park maps from our last trip (you could probably print them out online somewhere). From the dollar store i got each kid a disposable camera so they can take their own pictures. Lastly, I'm framing the letter from WDW that says welcome back....

they are all going to use their school backpacks for the plane to pack whatever they want, so eventually all this stuff will go in their individual bags.

We're doing this too! Thanks for the great ideas. I'm loving the balloon idea. :) We have a new stuffed friend for each DD (they're currently on sale B1G1free at the Disney Store), a few Target Dollar Section items, and a "coloring book" countdown thing I made last year for our trip (so DD1 will understand it).

I would love to receive this gift!! The Disneyland Fun Sing-A-Long DVD is really cute and is filmed at Disneyland but close enough to MK...also full of characters. It is a bit dated, but young children really enjoy it and can help them connect to what a Disney trip is!
