What to pack?

I have to admit this is the first time I've ever had to ask this type of question. For Flordia I know exactly, shorts and Tee's but for California I'm unsure. I've checked the 10 day out weather and it's giving me 80's during the day and down to 50's 60's at night? I'm thinking at least a couple of long pants, jeans plus my usual shorts and tops but what about a sweatshirt? Should I plan on packing that?

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm trying to pack for our trip. We fly out on June 30th and I keep packing and unpacking. I don't want to over do it but I'm concerned about the cool evenings.

I always take jeans and a sweatshirt to wear at night. You wouldn't think it would be that cool, but it usually is. There are lockers in 3 easily accessible areas: just inside DCA; about half way down Main Street in DL; by the ticket booths between the 2 parks. It saves having to go all the way back to the car, and the lockers are for all-day use, you can open them as many times as you want for one payment.

Typically you need a sweatshirt at DL once the sun goes down. Our lack of humidity means that the temperature is able to drop that much quicker. Also, right as the sun is going down, there's almost always a pretty good ocean breeze, taking away even more of the day's heat.

You know living in NY, and hearing all those BeachBoys California songs LOL I always thought it was sunny, hot and 90º all the in LA. Somehow, I just never thought of Calif and sweatshirts in the same thought. No need to laugh at me, I'm doing a good job laughing at myself.

I've been to DL at least one day of the last several weekends and I'm usually putting a sweatshirt on somewhere around 7pm, even if the day was really warm (which it has not been since the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend). Yesterday was probably mid-70s at the warmest. I wore jeans and a black t-shirt and didn't bake. It got a little warm between 3-5pm and we decided it was just warm enough for Splash and I got quite wet.

We went in June of 2003 and the entire 6 days we were there, it only warmed up to about 78 at its warmest. Being a CA gal myself, I didn't think too much of it, but I guess living in TX all these years, you get used to "real" heat and that 78 was a welcome temp. after only bringing 1 pair of jeans per person. Those pants got huge use. I was the only one who brought a sweater, and my daughter ended up wearing it as a "robe" all day in the parks. The ocean really does have an impact on how warm the temps feel or how cool they are. We're going July 7 to Disneyland AND DisneyWorld, and believe me, I'm making room in my suitcase for cold weather clothes. Of course, having said that, it'll be in the 90s the whole time in Disneyland! :rotfl:

In my experience in the summer, sweatshirts or jackets at night are pretty important. For me, especially, because the a/c is still on everywhere! Some days I'd say jeans/pants as well, particularly sitting for parades/fireworks. Other days, the long-sleeves are enough. T-shirt or tanks and shorts are usually just fine during the day. I ditto the idea of the lockers. We use them every time.
Unlike WDW, the likelihood of you needing a poncho/umbrella every evening at 5-7 is pretty slim.
I'd also bring a towel to the park with you so you can get dried off from water play or rides.
