What to pack for seasickness?

We had virtually the same experience as Billinaz. Lots of seasickness on the first cruise. Chewable bonine starting the day before the second cruise, and no problems whatsoever--no seasickness, no drowsiness. I'm packing it in my carry-on bag from now on.

I have on been on one cruise. I bought the Seabands and kids Boniane (sp?) and I had Dramamine too.
My boys and DH had no problems at all. Seas were pretty good. I felt a little queazy the first day and put on the bands and took the pills. The next day I took the pills. After that no problem the rest of the cruise.
I plan to do the same thing this spring.

Bring precautions. But from what I read preventive measures is the best way to go.

For those curious about Benadryl, note that it is a different formulation of essentially the same drug in Dramamine. So in a pinch, it makes for an effective seasickness drug. Just be careful not to take Darmamine for seasickness if you are already taking Benadryl for allergies.

No, Sea-Bands don't have batteries. They are stretchy terry material with a hard plastic knob that puts pressure on a point in your wrist.

There are wrist bands that have electrical (battery) stimulation, but those aren't Sea-Bands. They are called Relief Bands, and cost about $120 more than the Sea-Bands do!

I've never used the Relief Bands, so I can't comment on them, but I've used Sea-Bands, and they work wonderfully!

Sayhello

I won't sail without the Relief Bands. Yes, they are expensive but oh so worth it. I tried sea bands and if I didn't have the "spot" in the correct place they did nothing for me.

I recommend trying out whatever you are planning on taking sometime before the cruise. I had meds that I planned on taking (I had taken them before) and they made me so tired I could not function. I was so glad that I tried them out before hand.

Everything makes me pretty sleepy so my strategy was to hold off taking them as long as possible. I took Bonine during the show (around 6:30pm) when I started feeling the boat moving. Can't say I felt sick - I was more nervous that I'd feel sick).

I asked our ped before traveling what to do for our 18m old and 3 yr. old regarding motion sickness. I was told that there wasn't anything I could give them at that age, however children that young were not prone to sea sickness as adults are.
