What to order at Kona?

Everything on their menu is great. I have sampled lots. Our fav is the veggie asian noodle dish. Oh and the ice cream / candy dessert is a meal in itself. So yummy. You will be happy I am sure.

We ALWAYS get the beef teriyaki but boy that pork chop looks awesome!! We'll be staying at the Polynesian so I just might have to add a second dinner ADR there!! (As it is, we'll be having breakfast at the Kona Cafe every morning!!!) :sunny:

I have pictures (some of them blurry) in my trip report link. The pork chop was definitely good, as I tasted my Mom's, after she replaced the horrid Ono whitefish for it.

I ordered the prime rib and it was done correctly. My sister's teriyaki steak was delicious, too. I didn't taste my Mom's friend's coconut chicken dish, but she's a picky eater and loved it, too.

I think the overall hands-down winner was the pork chop.

I had the pot stickers, mahi-mahi, and banana creme brulee. It was soo good. We have an ADR there for September and that tuna oscar is calling my name.

I have to recommend the pomegrante-glazed grilled pork chop. I had it the last time I was there, when it was a special, before it was added to the regular dinner menu, and it was delicious.

Also, if you like tropically drinks, the Island Sunset is awesome. I can't wait to have one of those in September.

I substituted mashed potatoes...this meal was amazing. The chop was huge and meted in my mouth!

Oh my gosh I hope this is still on the menu when we go in August! We ate at Kona last August and absolutely loved our meal but this wasn't on the menu. The teriyaki steak was so good that I can only imagine how good t his must be!

We always get the Filet with the teriyaki sauce on it. Wonderful! Can't wait to eat there in 17 days:cloud9:

I'm bumping because there's yet another thread about Kona on the front page and this might help yet another person. ;)

Hi, we will be staying at the Poly next month and I have a couple questions.

1. Do we need reservations for Kona for dinner?

2. Do we need reservations for breakfast?

Thanks for your help.

Yes. I would definitely make reservations. Always better to have them and not have them, than to need them and not need them. ;)

If anybody is still wanting suggestions. I had the coconut chicken and loved it. I am a very picky eater so I was happy to find something that was a little different for me that I really like.

I also loved the banana creme brulee and of course you must have a Lapu Lapu (which to me was very strong but very very good).

My sister had the veggie noodle dish thing and thought it was amazing.

That looks absolutely delicious! I was planning on getting the coconut chicken, but I think I'll have to have the pork chop now!

My favorite was the mahi but unfortunately it's no longer on the menu. I've heard nothing but raves about the Tuna Oscar so that's my pick this year.

It's back on the menu! I believe it might be seasonal..but as of February it was back on. I'll let you know for sure though..unless someone else can confirm it.

If the Mahi Mahi is on the menu, I highly recommend it. I loved it when I had it in September. DH loves the shrimp and scallops

I was all set to try the chicken this time, but that pork chop looks yummy so I may give it a whirl!
