I would like some opinions as to what to order at the tea, since I've never done it before. Do you think it's better to order from the "a la carte offerings", or the "afternoon tea offerings" ? I's just like to hear ideas on what most like, THANKS!!! :goodvibes

I usually go for 'a la carte', usually the Sally Lunn bread and a dessert item like strawberries. It's a nice experience, but not the best afternoon tea tastewise I have experienced. It's just my personal preference to order the a la carte, but to each his/her own personal taste. I'm sure that you will enjoy whatever you order...

If you've never done "high tea" then I would order one of the offerings rather than a la carte. That will give you a broad overview to all of the "traditional" tea offerings. I agree that GF's isn't the best I've been to, but it is above average, and for me High Tea is mostly about atmosphere, which the GF really excells at. Be sure to do it at a time where you wonn't feel rushed. It is meant to be an experience to be savored and service is (intentionally) not rushed.

My dh and I tried the Buckingham Palace tea last March. There were several courses along with your tea selection! Tea sandwiches, scones, jam tart, then your choice of either 2 pastries, strawberries & cream, or trifle! My ds had the Mrs. Potts tea which was chocolate milk along with a kids selection of tea sandwiches and 2 pasties. We all enjoyed it very much, and will definetaly return!
