She doesnt like homemaid gifts and cant have just any types of clothes as she has heart problems. I was going to get her some nice house slippers but havent found any good enough yet.

Could you put together a family video for her with a special message from each person at the end.

Gift cards to her local grocery store, or gas station, or favorite restaurant, or beauty shoppe. Then add a simple, handwritten note card with your most heartfelt, loving thoughts, some of the wonderful memories you treasure and why she's so special. Our grandparents always appreciate that so much.

I read on another thread where someone talked about giving those energy saving light bulbs and installing them for an elderly relative. That way they could save on their bills, and they wont have to worry about falling while trying to reach a bulb,as they last for years.

I have given stationary, note cards, etc. My mom gives a calendar and paper clips $5 or $10 to each month so grandma and grandpa can go get some coffee or a doughnut as they are on a very limited income.

I have seen picture frames somewhere online that you connect to a phone line, pay a minimal monthly fee, and you (or anyone) can send pictures to the photo frame, so that you can show off your new photos without mailing them, new ones just 'appear' in the frame.

I would give my Grandpa things like gift certificates to his favorite restaurant (he ate there every day), a roll of stamps, gas certificates, etc. He didn't want any more "stuff" and those were things he could use. One year I bought him a down coat. It was lightweight and warm and easy to get on.
