What to expect with 7DMT at RD for first ride

I have unsuccessfully tried to get FP for earlier in the day. However, I have been fortunate enough to get them for later around dinner, and in the evening. I would consider giving these up though if I had a realistic shot at getting on first thing at RD. So I am wondering what’s been people’s experiences? Is it an instant 30+ minute wait by the time you get from the RD to the attraction? I’d hate to waste precious minutes in the morning when I could be taking on 2-3 other headliners. I am going on both on 4 and 6 level crowd days. I have my other 2 FP for late morning/early afternoon and I like the prospect of getting a third for the same timeframe which would position us for a 4th and so on. Having to wait until evening for 7DMT to use my 3rd is preventing us from doing that.

just be quick. stay on the right hand side and go around the castle (not through) and quickly head toward the entrance of the ride. If you dally it will take an age, especially with the new addition of people coming out of the Be Our Guest early entrance breakfast. as a positive, it cuts down lines elsewhere, and it really is best at night!

Good luck

We went directly there at RD in January and it was still 60 minute wait by the time we got there.

If you are at the front or near the front of the RD then the line is not long...that is what we did and that is the key. We arrived at least an hour before park opening.. If you just arrive at the RD area and are near the back or watching the little show (we could not see the show as we were right up by the CM) then I expect the wait might be long by the time you get there...then Follow the CM up Main Street, stay to the right (follow the crowd) before the castle and we had maybe a ten minute wait at most..

If you arrive at the Train Station by 8:15 AM(8:00 AM would be optimal) and head straight for the Rope across the right tunnel and stay there until Magic Kingdom Welcome you will be among the first to arrive at SDMT.:)

Yes,it is a long wait, but I would rather wait on "non-Park hours time" time than waste "Park time" waiting.:)

One of the days we have 8:05 ADR for CP breakfast. I was hoping that would help with getting in and lining up a little early. However, I don’t see that getting us a spot that anybody else can’t get to anyway once they let everybody down Main St. Unless I am missing something?

btw. I agree about waiting on my time vs. on park time. My time has no impact on all of the other attractions.

If you finish Breakfast by around 8:45 AM and head straight for Fantasyland you will be among the first riders of the day on SDMT(assuming a 9:00 AM open and no AM EMH day.:)

Recent reports are they are allowing BOG,CP,CRT Guests to "roam" the "Carousel area" with Cast Members stationed to keep guests in that area.

As soon as Magic Kingdom Welcome ends BOG,CP,CRT Guests are allowed access to SDMT and A&E before the Main Gate line gets to Fantasyland.:)

Really?

This is the first that I’ve heard of this! So we will potentially be allowed to wander around the carousel area that is beyond the RD area? How do we get to that area? Do we go through the castle? That would be awesome. This means that my daughter and granddaughter would get first dibs on A& E as well I take it. This alone would be worth the price of the CP breakfast.

BTW. at least for now anyway. May 2nd shows 9:00 am opening and evening EMH.

When you leave CP,just walk straight through the Castle to Fantasyland-there will be Ropes "blocking" access to Tomorrowland-Adventureland-Liberty Square.

We went at rope drop back in October on a fairly busy day (7 I think). We followed the path everyone here tells you to. Also, if you do have a stroller, don't have your kids in it. The time it takes you to park the stroller and get your kids out will make a huge difference in how formed the line is. We made that mistake on our first day and realized the line was insane. So on our next MK day we had the kids already out of the stroller (we needed the baby out for baby swap pass). The gates to the park opened about 10 minutes early and we were all done with the ride by 9:08, so I don't think the wait was bad at all doing it that way.
