We are considering staying offsite for the first time in June 2006 in order to get more space for less money. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teens and may possibly have an extra teen with us for this trip. If so, we will have to have either two hotel rooms or a multi-room unit, such as a house or condo. My question is, what can we expect to pay for a house or condo rental near wdw during the first or second week of June? We want something nice and clean, preferably with a pool, but we do not have to have luxury. We are used to the Disney mods. We will be staying for one week. Also, how do I go about finding the best deals? How far ahead should I book?
Thanks so much!

the best deal would be skyauction. however there is no way to know before hand what resorts will be available.

I like Hilton Grand Vacation CLub (HGVC) - when you can find one, SHeraton Vistana (it can be expensive), Celebration world resort (I love it because my cat can save here with me), there are several others. Just ask before you bid.

for a timeshare rented through skyauction you will pay anywhere from $211 to $550 (sometimes higher) - you and several others are bidding - this is an auctoin.

if you want to just plain rent one. then
www.condodirect.com
the closer you to 60 days before the better the price. although lately this site has gone up in price not down.

if you have a friend or relative that owns a timeshares and beyonds to either II or RCI (the exchange companies) - they can get you a getaway that might be better a price. I say might because with RCI you can't say if skyauction or RCI getaways will be the best price.

We just got back about 2 weeks ago. We rented a condo thru vrbo.com. Code # 51709. It was perfect for us. 2 bedrom condo with a sleeper sofa. One bedroom had 2 sets of bunks. We paid $79 a night. It was very clean and we would rent thru this family again.

we got a great deal through vrbo.com at windsor palms. a 4 bedroom home/pool/spa close to disney normally 150 a night to 125 a night. we booked 3 weeks before our trip. there were plently of availabilities. we went the first week of june. i would look at vrbo.com. we had 2 young children and 2 teens.

In the past couple of years, we have rented a 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo at Windsor Palms for $90/nite and a 2-bed, 2-bath condo at Orbit One through SkyAuction for $261/week ($37/nite).

This Windsor Palms sounds like something we might be interested in for late Nov/early December.. Do you have to do a timeshare presentation there?

Hi C.Ann :wave2: . Nope, Windsor Palms is not a timeshare community. It is a gated community of privately owned 2 and 3 bedroom condos, 3 bedroom townhomes and 3-6 bedroom pool homes. You can find rentals at vrbo.com or at http://www.windsor-palms-florida.net/ (that's where we found ours).

Thanks, Steve! With this current AP fiasco going on, I'm leaning more towards off-site now than on-site.. If we stayed on-site we would need more than one room - with a condo we would have plenty of room!! :flower:

The brand new 4 bedroom 3 bath house we rented had themed bedrooms (Spiderman, Disney) video games, plus a great pool (with spa and toys) which the kids absolutely lived in. It also had a big screen TV, DVD player, absolutely gorgeous decorating (without being "formal" or uncomfortable), garden tub, etc, and it backed onto a wetland, so we got to see herons, etc. It had two themed Master bedrooms plus two kids rooms with 2 twins each. We loved the fact that we could save money by cooking our own food too (there's a grocery very close by). Plus the privacy aspect of the pool - you're not sharing it with a couple hundred other people.

And best of all it was only $130/night! We rented through www.VillaDirect.com and were extremely happy with their service. Plus it's only 2 minutes to Disney! The particular house we always rent is the Sunshine Bay Villa in Oak Island Cove, but they have many similar to that if it isn't available. The good thing with them is that you get to see the exact home you'll rent. Plus they have a concierge service where you can get rental car discounts, attraction discounts, etc.

BTW, if you book through SkyAuction, most of those rentals don't require a time-share presentation. Though they will call you a few times during your stay and invite you to one, you are under no obligation to attend.

Awesome information! I will start checking these out. Thanks so much!
