I'm planning to bring my family to the grand opening and we are wondering what to expect (besides a huge crowd.) What time are people going to arrive? Do you guys think the park will reach maximum capacity and people will be turned away at the gate?

Also, we are hoping some of the stars from the movies will be there but I can't find any info on that anywhere. If anyone has any suggestions or plans already mapped out for the big day I would love to hear them.

Read an article about it that said that there will be a red-carpet nighttime ceremony (to avoid crowd issues during park hours I'm guessing).

Unfortunatly none of the lead trio cast members will be there...(probably still working on last two films).

No word yet on JK Rowling.

And I would recommend getting there early. You never know how many people will show up. Dont be surprised if people are lining up infront of IOA hours before opening...considering how many of the HP book release days were like.

Mugglenet says the actors that play The Weasley Twins, Ginny, and Draco are confirmed to be attending.

More than likely it will reach capacity and they'll turn people away. Get there before opening for better odds of not being turned away.

I predict madness and mayhem! :rotfl:

Me too! Considering that that over 2000 people turned up at my local Asda for the midnight launch of the last book (Walmart to you guys), which is in a quiet area of Northern England, I predict things are going to go Loco for a while!!:scared1:

Craziness....mayhem...crowds & more crowds!!!! Wish I was going then but we're waiting until it calms down a little and going in November!

:lmao:
going to help;)?

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria! (before i get skinned here by the HP faithful....ghostbusters reference!)

jk, seriously, I trust u to give a full & accurate account of the the area (hopefully a glossy pictures or two):thumbsup2

I will be staying at an onsite hotel from June 18-19. I won't be arriving until 10-11. Any idea whether they will turn away onsite guests if it reaches capacity?

I will there for the opening as well!!! I'm ready for the hysteria!!

As its already been posted...mugglenet.com says Ginny, the twins, and Draco will be in there. I know that Dan (HP) will be in America this weekend so he can present at the Tony Awards. I really dont know anything else beyond that...

I have no clue what happens with onsite guests. But I'd assume once capacity is met, they can't let anybody in due to fire codes and stuff? This is just my best guess.

I would say that they are going to have to limit the number of people going in to just the Harry Potter area. The other day we were there and my Dh was talking to a security person and he said that at that moment there were 2500 people in the HP section. I could see getting maybe 500 more in there but it would be very uncomfortable to get more than that in the area. He said thay have thousands of security cameras just in the HP area.

Do they close to the park like Disney does when it reaches capacity? It would make sense if they do. If they do use the same type of rules as Disney, then on-site people will be the last people able to enter the park.

For people who doen't know Disney's policy, Disney has four different levels: Stage One: Day Guests who have not already purchased tickets will be turned away, Stage Two: Admission is limited to Resort Guests, Premium and Annual Passholders. Stage Three: The theme park is only open to Resort Guests and Stage Four: Closed to all new Guests.

I remember being in Epcot while New Years (that was awesome) and it was crowded but I don't remember anything too negatively about it. I remember it reached max capacity, but not sure at what level if they even had one back then.

This is different though. We're talking about one new (and from what I've read, small) area that is going to be PACKED ALL DAY!

I wonder what it'll be like on the 4th of July :scared1:

Will they have a line set up for entering WWOHP?
