I work at the Apple Store part time. FYI, engraving does NOT void the warranty. In fact, you can still purchase the AppleCare service plan for an iPod that is engraved, which gives you two full years of coverage. The note about it not being returnable is just for buyer's remorse. You can't just decide you don't want it and get a refund or exchange, but if it breaks you are still covered under your original warranty or AppleCare, if you buy it.
